Tauk are giving New York something to talk about this July. Named after Montauk, Long Island – the fabled and historic, eastern-most point of New York state – the rock-fusion five-piece are celebrating the July 13 release of their debut CD Brokedown King (Distributed by Rocket Science through DashGO) with a series of high-profile shows in the New York City area.

They kicked off the festivities on the 4th of July opening for moe in Asbury Park, NJ, at the Stone Pony Summerstage. On July 17 they’ll bring their infectious blend of funk, rock, jazz and pop back to the Big Apple, where they will perform on a pre-show party cruise that takes concert goers from Manhattan to the Dave Matthews Band’s sold-out show at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets.

The Dave Matthews Band party cruise will be Tauk‘s first show following the July 13 release of debut album Brokedown King, which was recorded in Los Angeles, at Jack Johnson’s solar-powered Plastic Plant Recording Studio by Grammy Award-winning producer Robert Carranza [Jack Johnson, Mars Volta]. The album will be available across all digital platforms, and will be christened with an album release party complete with open bar, food, and a live performance, July 20, at Dominion in New York City [428 Lafayette St, across from Joe's Pub]. Tauk – Adam Akpinar (drums), Alric ‘AC’ Carter (keys/organ), Charlie Dolan (bass), Matt Jalbert (guitar/vocals) and Alessandro Zanelli (vocals) – hail from Oyster Bay, Long Island, and have built an impressive local following, opening for O.A.R, performing at the Gathering of the Vibes festival alongside Buddy Guy and Bob Weir & Ratdog, and being featured on Fuse TV. “What’s compelling is the raw power of the band, from their light moments to full-out jamming,” says Carranza of Tauk. “Music is a language that some feel and others speak – and Tauk do both very well.”
