Ever since I was a little girl I have always wanted to visit Vermont. I know it seems silly, but I came across a picture of a beautiful fall landscape and an old stone bridge that was such a happy, comforting picture. The caption said it was a place in Vermont. The desire to find that bridge someday has spurred by wanting to travel Vermont before I die. =o)

Now I have a new reason.

They are "The Capstan Shafts" from Lyndonville, Vermont. It's good wholesome folk rock music. I love it.

Check out their music on MySpace.

I recommend buying the album from Asaurus Records, because it's just such great music, I love that it's fun and original.

And if you want a quick listen to tide you over for now:

The Capstan Shafts - "The Big Perpetual" (mp3 snippet)
The Capstan Shafts - "She's the Moon Hoax" (mp3 snippet)
The Capstan Shafts - "Day You Called Me Pretty" (mp3 snippet)

When you hop on over to Asaurus Records to buy the Capstan Shafts album, check out SINKCHARMER. Their fourth releases came out this January and it's also great Folk Rock music with the more traditional Indie flair.

SINKCHARMER - "California's Gone" (mp3)

And just so you know, I'll definitely be writing about more of the bands from this record label since I've just discovered it and am finding that their are many hidden treasures to be heard here. ;o)
