Debuting in 2005 on
Poverina, Astrid Swan stepped out of the background as a known collaborator with other artists and she went solo. She and Nick Triani produced the 13-song album; all Astrid Swan originals. If you reside in Finland you've been enjoying for years, but those in the US will get a chance to own the US version of
Poverina, on May 22nd.
She began writing songs and teaching herself the guitar at the age of fourteen. And she still uses raw child-like emotion as the basis of her music. Whether she writes/sings about what she is feeling or seeing someone else feel, it's surely real. She really is amazingly talented and comparable to even the greats, like Joni Mitchell or Carly Simon.
You can
pre-order Poverina from Minty Fresh Records. In the meantime here is your chance to hear her live rendition of "When You Were Young" by The Killers.
