I somehow came across this website, and though I have no idea how it happened, I am very happy it did. The artist/genius of Contemporary Art and Digital Design, if you will, is Harvey Rayner. He is a brilliant creative mind and I find him inspiring because he had been rejected from art school twice. Fools. So what if he was an arrogant teenager...? That doesn't make him a bad artist, it just means he probably should try to sell his on work. =oP
When you first come to his website, you are immediately faced with a gloomy color scheme. It's so drab. But it works, because his work is anything but drab. In his own words, "..radical blend of geometric visual logic, web-aesthetics, some Zen(ish) thinking and non-thinking, modern design, some cool prints and T-shirts and hopefully a good wholesome supplement of eyeball nutrition."
While all of his pieces are excellent, it is the digital artwork that I love best. It is extremely expressive but entirely simplistic. There is one animated pattern which was inspired by a Mozart composition and it explores the musical patterns of song. It's just incredible.
In addition to his more traditional formats of art, he has also begun to work on technology pieces of design. "In the recent few years besides my digital art undertakings, I've embarked on a number of sustainable building technology projects. One of which is the only one of its kind in Europe and its built in the back of my garden. It's a liquid bubble insulated solar greenhouse and I've had it running now for a couple of years."
Check out his work, I am sure you'll find something which impresses you. And if you don't, well then I can only surmise you are blind to beauty. Lol.
