Roadside Project Paper Art
Sunday, February 8, 2009
Jayme McGowan is paper artist and illustrator working in Sacramento, California."My hope is to produce work in a variety of media, in large and small scale, that aim toward a high level of artistry and innovation while maintaining a spirit of roadside earnestness."
As you can see, her paper art is three dimensional and colorful. In some respects it reminds me of the Coraline illustrations. When you order a print of the art it comes on paper which is archival, moisture and scratch resistant, and has a luster finish (soft gloss) for vivid color that gives the 2D printed image as much life as the original 3D illustration.
She says having a shop, Roadside Projects, on Etsy (coming up on a year now) has helped with her inspiration.
"Etsy is a huge inspiration, just seeing what kind of creative things other folks dream up."
She has all her past artwork and projects photographed and shown on Flickr, http://www.flickr.com/photos/roadside.
