Scrabble Tile Art

Thursday, March 5, 2009

Some of us look at scrabble pieces and think only about the word game. Others mentally begin creating works of art, pieces of unique jewelry where the sky is the limit on what can be dreamed up.

Lisa Owens was born in Grand Rapids Michigan. She spent the first half of her life in Michigan and then moved to San Diego for some time. Two years ago she moved to Washington, Utah where she lives with her son and best friend of a husband.

"I create one of a kind pieces of jewelry using images or text and resin. I find that there is no substitute for the shine and depth that resin offers. I have been collecting vintage books and pictures for over 10 years and I am very happy to be offering my creations here on Etsy! My designs come from the things that bring happiness to my life. I hope they will do the same for you!"

Her Etsy shop is called "It's All About The Print." She has it stocked to the brim with tiles she has created, necklaces and supplies for those who share her passion. You can buy one item at a time, but she also offers sets and whole sale units for those of you who just can't get enough.

I very much like all the tiles, but in typical Christy fashion I find myself drawn to the word maps or text tiles which have fabulous quotes and sayings on them. The one you see pictured here is her "Seize the Day" necklace tile and I simply love it. It is finished with super shiny, glass-like resin. The edges are lovingly sanded and rounded for a professional finished appearance. And it's only $6.95, hello my friends, you cannot beat that deal!
