Hawea and Primped Paperie

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Lara has been designing and selling beanies for 5 years in various ski resorts in Utah, Lake Tahoe, and New Zealand. All designs are original and made for style, comfort, and warmth. She started the business on her own and named it Hawea, how cool is that?

I love the beanies with the brim, especially when they come with a colorful band across the front. The Samantha Beanie is my favorite of the items in her Etsy store right now.

Next on the list of items I have been drooling over on Etsy are the prints you can find at Primped Paperie. I specifically love the "I'll Keep You Warm" print where the little girls scarf is wrapped around her and her teddy bear. The paper it comes printed on is archival matte cotton fine art paper. This means the prints will last forever!

The illustrator at Primped Paperie says she finds inspiration in many things. She says, "If my work makes you giggle, cry, or hug your post man for no apparent reason, then my job is complete!" How sweet!?

Another shop you might be interested in perusing is Charm Design. Charm Design was founded by Ranja Lee who is a stay-at-home mom with two children. She was born in Japan. She studied at the Vantan Design Institute in Tokyo and worked the children clothing company as a clothing designer for several years in Tokyo. She moved to Los Angeles in 1994, and studied Graphic Design at the California State of University Fullerton.

Some of her work had been featured on the Martha Stewart show back in February of 2008. How super cool! She designs and sews all different sized purses and pouches in fantabulous fabrics and colors. Whether you like flowers or stripes or turquoise or cranberry she has a bag for you. You can find some of her items priced at $20 and below which makes for a great gift when times are tough.

    Diva Lila Hat

    Friday, October 10, 2008

This retro style hat looks like something I would never be able to pull off, but it's also something I'd love to TRY to pull off and so I may need to order it. =o) Of course it's from Shana Logic which is one of my favorite indie shops online. There probably isn't one item in their shop that I would turn down.

The Diva Lila Hat with veil looks like something which would have been worn by a starlet actress in the 50s or 60s. In fact, just last weekend Brian and I watched "Diary of a Madman" a 1963 horror flick starring Vincent Price and the leading lady, Nancy Kovack, wore hats just like this one.

I recently did order from Shana Logic because I wanted the crochet arm warmers and the candy corn earrings. It really takes a lot to stop adding items to my cart. Thank God for the wish list feature, at least that gives me hope. Haha.

And then over at sugarloop on Etsy, there are new and gorgeous tree prints which would brighten up any room. Bernadette Sipkes is a printmaker and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand and she designs simple, colorful prints by hand. She has sold over 3,000 items in her Etsy store and I foresee that number growing.

I love the Orange Starburst Tree, so definitely be sure to check out her shop. She signs her prints and mails them out on fine art giclée paper. Perfection. How adorable would these look in your classroom or child's bedroom!
