Diva Lila Hat
Friday, October 10, 2008
This retro style hat looks like something I would never be able to pull off, but it's also something I'd love to TRY to pull off and so I may need to order it. =o) Of course it's from Shana Logic which is one of my favorite indie shops online. There probably isn't one item in their shop that I would turn down. The Diva Lila Hat with veil looks like something which would have been worn by a starlet actress in the 50s or 60s. In fact, just last weekend Brian and I watched "Diary of a Madman" a 1963 horror flick starring Vincent Price and the leading lady, Nancy Kovack, wore hats just like this one.
I recently did order from Shana Logic because I wanted the crochet arm warmers and the candy corn earrings. It really takes a lot to stop adding items to my cart. Thank God for the wish list feature, at least that gives me hope. Haha.

And then over at sugarloop on Etsy, there are new and gorgeous tree prints which would brighten up any room. Bernadette Sipkes is a printmaker and illustrator from Auckland, New Zealand and she designs simple, colorful prints by hand. She has sold over 3,000 items in her Etsy store and I foresee that number growing. I love the Orange Starburst Tree, so definitely be sure to check out her shop. She signs her prints and mails them out on fine art giclée paper. Perfection. How adorable would these look in your classroom or child's bedroom!

little odd forest
Thursday, February 7, 2008
In reading the "about" page, I found out in August 2004, "Forestprints Design" officially launched thanks to Singaporean designer, Lynda Lye. She says she needed quirky, colorful things in her life and so she created them herself and in October of the same year she opened the online shop, "little odd forest boutique."Looking through her site is seriously fun. I mean I feel like a kid.
First of all you'll see she is a fabric addict like myself, but more avid about it as she is far better a crafter than I am. =o)Her designs are bright and cheerful homemade happiness!
It seems as though she has a fount of creativity overflowing in her brain at all times. She crafts and sells everything from buttons and key chains to t-shirts and tote bags. There are items for your home, room decor, mirrors, stationery and little huggables. Each item is unique, vibrant and perfectly adorable. In addition to being a fabulous designer she has also turned her company into something that helps people across the world. She has given jobs to the homeless, taught sewing skills to women who were jobless and is now sponsoring a child from Bangladesh through the "World Vision Child Sponsorship" program. Her company also donates money each month to the World Wildlife Fund.
Head to her site, shop around and also make sure to check out the Freebie Doodles section to scoop up sweet wallpapers for your desktop.

A Pretty Rock
Saturday, January 26, 2008
Valentine's Day has become such a silly and commercialized holiday, but this year a "A Pretty Rock" made all the difference. =o)From now until February 14th, all orders over $40* at A Pretty Rock, will get a free pair of Filigree Heart Circle Drops Earrings. Okay so there I go being silly, but you have to see these earrings, they are just so cute! Of course supplies are limited so now that you know you should head to their site before it's too late.
"A Pretty Rock creates one of a kind or limited edition pieces of jewelry. Brought to life with carefully selected gemstones, mineral stones and freshwater pearls, the collection is meant to lend affordable, quality elegance to all."
It all reminds me of when I was a little girl and my parents bought me a rock tumbler. Talk about silly. Haha. The tumbler was so small and it took ages to get those rocks looking like smooth gems, but it was fun.
Anyhoo. If you are a gal who isn't really into jewelry (except my earrings, a girl can never have enough earrings) then "A Pretty Rock" can dazzle you with simple, yet beautiful jewelry. Each piece is unique, too, which is something important to me when it comes to accessories. But I like how this jewelry is made with hand chosen gems and crafted with care. And I bet if you wear something from "A Pretty Rock" you'll be asked where you got it and told that it is lovely. So if you don't like compliments, don't bother looking. ;o)

Modern Economy
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Modern Economy sample sales began in January 2006 with a simple goal: to support independent designers. Items include bedding, crib sets, throws, ceramics, table top wares, lighting, pet accessories, clothing, and more... Sharon Spain is going to be one of the featured designers at their upcoming fall sample sale. She creates very cute pillows and other fabric items using natural materials and organic designs. Patterns are simple: a flattened sprig of berries, a delicate dandelion puff, earthy colors. Each pillow has a hidden zipper, and a removable feather and down insert for easy washing. =o)
