Lolita inspiration, css trick and web tips

Oooo I like this article/tutorial on dynamic buttons using CSS.The technique is very simple. If we want to have a dynamic-width button, we have to find a way to stretch it horizontally. We will accomplish this if we create two background images that will define the button: one for the left side and one for the right side.

I recently read yet another article about web design mistakes. I think it is important to at least look at these articles because sometimes I do learn something and with web development constantly changing it doesn't hurt to keep informed.
One mistake mentioned is not having a good page title. This is something I know and yet even still continue to forget from time to time when building new sites.
"A good title is critical for getting good search engine positions and the most vital thing - the click-through. With the title, you are always walking a tightrope. You need a title with your most important keyword near the beginning but it should still appeal to the human reading the results."

Lolita is a visual inspiration-bank, full of fantasies, dreams - a filter of colors and shadows, a silhouette in the dark. Hopefully making your pulse beat, body shiver.. The hand-picked images put together are also the basis of the story about a young Lolita, living in Stockholm, Sweden - inviting you to take a walk with her, in silence..
Initially I stumbled across Lolita under a graphic design pretense. I found their "the process" animated graphic which had me cracking up.
But there is a fount of inspiration at this website which goes way beyond graphics. Some of the photography on here is just so thoughtfully amazing that I have spent a great deal of time looking through their archives.
So check out Lolita >>

And have you seen photos of Britney Spears' new home? It is beautiful and elegant in every respect. There is a library I literally spent time drooling over.
The 7,500 square feet home sports a pool, spa, three garages, 10 bedroom, 10 bathrooms, a bar, cinema and a library.
In terms of architecture and home design this one is 5 stars!

Found a website all about what inspires this one funky gal in Australia. "My name is Lyndsay, and this is my web-based scrapbook of things that inspire me: music, decor, design, fashion, paper crafts and whatever else takes my fancy!"

SeeSaw is a long, narrow board suspended in the middle so that, as one end goes up, the other goes down.
So what would a see-saw chair look like?
Dubbed as 'Swingers', this piece of furniture is in fact, a set of two back-to-back chairs scrambled into one. So, two people might never face each other while sitting on same chair.

Interactive Projects, Cell Phone Bracelets and Lit Tables
Thursday, October 23, 2008
Interaction Design recently posted an article about 20 "cool interaction design concepts." They wrote about both 2D and 3D designs which range a myriad of products from bracelet cellphones to chop sticks which interact with your computer monitor much like a mouse or stylus would. The concept "MADE in China" was the winner of the "Next-Gen pc competition" in 2006 and was especially designed for the Chinese market. This concept would be the chop sticks mentioned which interact with your computer monitor. This would drive me nuts, although I am sure I would have a lot of fun wasting time until the frustration settled in.
There is a cellphone bracelet concept similar to the snap bracelets I wore as a kid growing up. Remember those bracelets which would would slap against your wrist and they would swing themselves around and stay put? This cell phone concept is similar. Though I'm not sure I would ever own one if it came to be. Imagining now all the times I hot my wrist against my desk at work. And how likely I'd be to jump in a pool still wearing it! Oy!
Of all 20 concepts my favorite is the LED coffee table. The BecauseWeCan.org designers came up with the idea. It has 640 LED lights just below the glass surface which react to motion. If you move your arm over the glass surface the LED lights will follow this motion by lightening up. The intensity of the light is linked to the distance between the surface and the table. I just imagine it would be a pain to replace the lights. And you wouldn't want it active if you were having a family movie night.
I bet there is some way you could make a game out of it. I mean if you put a game piece on the table and moved it around, it would interact, right? What if one bulb lit up a different color and whoever got to that bulb would win. Eh, now I'm concepting off a concept.
Either way it's always interesting and inspiring to see what designers come up with when given project topics.

Hate to break it to you but this article "Cross-platform Table-free Web Design," is a couple many years too late...And so, there is a contest ongoing called "Tees for the People" and here is a link to possible Barack Obama contenders. One of which is shown here; they all have very similar features.
And then my friends, we have a link to more links with WOORK and their Daily inspiration: 10 Websites to get design inspiration.
Just in case you were wanting to speak at the Game Design Expo...they are looking for individuals to do just that.
