This morning
RetroToGo.com has a post featuring the Enzo retro swivel chair by Darlings of Chelsea. This chair is so adorable, I love it and must have it. But that will have to come at another time when there is more than lint in my pockets.

Core 77 has a discussion going about what "design art" actually is, or isn't. Alice Rawsthorn wrote about it recently in the
International Herald Tribune. "'Design-art' is a commercial phenomenon, not a cultural one. It's a label adopted by auction houses in the hope of flogging limited-edition furniture for higher prices than it would muster if relegated to the unfashionable category of 'decorative arts.' And it has been very effective, commercially at least. A new season of design sales starts Monday with the opening of the Design Miami/ Basel fair in Switzerland, followed by auctions in New York next week. Despite the purists' sneers, collectors' interest in 'design-art' is still increasing, and as the market matures, a less ditzy side to it is emerging."
Hmm, well I guess she has a strong opinion on the matter.

These hi-fi bookshelf speakers look like a vintage amp!
They have the technology of modern world stereo sound, but they look like retro guitar amps. Definitely an awesome style for your entertainment room, especially if you have lighter colored decor.
They are made by
Exeluxe and you can find them on Etsy. Yes, I know I love Etsy, but truly if you like quality original items, where else can you go?
"Exeluxe is a happy little company with smart looks and a keen talent that makes products for people, and people alone."

While reading Indie Fixx, I stumbled across
ArtGhost.
ARTGHOST is two artists and independent designers, Eric Adler and Liz Wong, working in Seattle, Washington. They hand make everything in their shop which means you get one-of-a-kind items, because the hand never makes exact duplicates.
You can also buy greeting cards they designed and most of them are quite hilarious. They have the old school black & white sketches of retro people, but the captions are far more modern which makes for a humorous time.
What sold me right away were the handmade purses. They have this girl with headphones on and a back splash of pink with black polka dots. It's awesome! You would never find something like this in a store, at least not around Delaware. Bloom (on Main Street in Newark, DE), you need to get in touch with these guys and start buying their inventory, I know your UD student customers would totally scoop them up.
Also, if you want to know more about what Eric and Liz are up to, you can hop on over to their blog.

Yes, yes I love the brand Forever 21. They seem to always have the most unique selections of clothing and accessories, and they aren't too expensive either. I remember one Christmas my Mom bought me a cream colored cable sweater from them and I absolutely loved it!
They have some retro looking items in their line-up now and this necklace is one of them. I'm not much for jewelry...well, except for earrings and my gorgeous engagement ring. =o)
But I simply adore this necklace! And the best part is you can scoop it up
online for under $7!

Ebay is a beautiful place, especially when it brings you across your favorite things. I love vintage clothing, specifically pin-up, rockabilly clothing from the 50s and 60s. I would love to learn how to sew because then I can buy all those old patterns for wrap dresses and such, but alas, I'm horrible with a needle and thread.
Lucitebox Vintage makes things a little bit easier for gals like me.
In the photo is a dress from the Paul Parnes label and I think it is absolutely adorable. Unfortunately it has already been sold, but see there is hope! Because Lucitebox is updated frequently with new outfits and accessories.
The online boutique is run by Holly Rhode. She finds things, inspects them and lists them on
eBay while also writing about them on her
blog. So you can find out more about the label and style of clothing.
Very cool, and definitely bookmark worthy.

It's probably true this chair will never match anything and buying it would be purely for show which is just silly. However, as I'm "browser" shopping and not actually buying anything, I've decided I really like it.
Savoy Stripe ChairThe description from Urban Outfitters: "cushy retro-inspired chair - a classic modern shape, patterned with stripes, all on a sleek silvertone base."
And in all of its stand alone glory it costs $200. The price you pay for a retro look in a modern day world.
