When I was a senior in high school one of the first things I began preparing for was how in the world I would pay for college. My best friend and I went to the counselor's office every week and checked on the new college scholarships being offered. We applied for every single one we even remotely qualified for...

On the day of the Senior Awards no one knew which scholarships they had been awarded. My name was called so many times the principal asked me to stay on the stage at one point. The moral...just try. There are so many people who think they don't have a chance and so they don't try. If you apply yourself, find the scholarships and turn them in on time you DO have a shot. I am proof of that, I didn't have a 4.0 GPA and I wasn't captain of the softball team, but college was important to me and I knew my parents didn't have the means to pay my way. So you can do this, I'm telling you!

In addition to bombarding the counselor's office you can also run through databases online. Like at Scholarships.com, they will give you access to 2.7 million scholarships & grants worth over $19 billion. You don't have to worry about scams either. "Scholarships.com's staff reviews and approves each scholarship offer submitted to our database and many steps are employed to make sure the more insincere offers do not get through."

Their "mission is to assist students in obtaining college scholarships and to help them and their parents explore the many available scholarship opportunities and any other financial aid information that might prove useful."

So I'm asking you to just look. If you are getting ready to enter your senior year of high school you need to start looking for ways to pay for college now. Yes, you do. College is so important and as time passes it keeps getting more and more expensive. Every little bit counts, so apply on local and national levels. Apply yourself and apply for scholarships. =o)
