Geez louise, I just don't get marketers sometimes. I mean I think this type of branding may actually deter me from getting involved with the product.
"
FogScreen, a "walk-through projector" that will allow ads to fill entire spaces, such as walkways in subway tunnels, with an ad that you can walk right through." The FogScreen produces a thin curtain of "dry" fog that serves as a translucent projection screen, displaying images that literally float in the air. Hmm. Is this safe? Will something like this block hidden cameras from witnessing crimes? You could shine a light on this fog and make it very hard to see through. I certainly wouldn't put these ads in a subway where people could take advantage of this curtain. Not to mention the fact that there will be consitent water consumption involved.
The pros of course being that you'll never have to climb up on a table to reach the gizmo that is a physical projector and see why it won't turn on. Nor will you get smacked in the face by a projection screen that just will not cooperate. And the add-on features make it possible for you to interact as a consumer and write on the fog with your hand which is pretty snifty.
Sure this could be exciting, maybe I want a hologram in my house. But I really am not comfortable with the idea of having to walk through one in a subway. It's great that new forms of media are in development for advertisers who really want to WOW their customers. I'm just not so sure about this project yet. We'll have to see how it pans out.
