Facebook has the coolest additions. I love the music challenge and am currently a "music expert" though I have only gotten 70.2% of the challenges right. =o/ It is done through iLike and is still in beta form.
Cartoons of blogger Hugh Macleod…the "Gapingvoid" can now be added to your Facebook profile. Yep, I get that daily with the RSS feed, funny stuff.
And NewsGator Technologies has created a Facebook app, which means you can share your favorites feeds via their little widget. Though Feedburner already did this and I think a lot of people have burned their feeds with that site, so it will probably be more identifiable.
Of course you can add your Twitter bug to Facebook. I love Twitter! They were one of the earlier apps to be added, actually invited by Facebook.
Heck even Dogster has an app for Facebook. It's out of control, but it's so great because it allows you to add personality and customization to your profile which used to be Facebook's only downfall.
Amazon wish list freak that I am I have like 18 pages of stuff that I "wish" for, but most of it is books and movies. There are however some practical items like a GPS tracking unit. Not that I travel a lot, but I would love to eventually and quite frankly even staying in my home state I find myself...directionally challenged.
Having an auto tracker is something I have always been intrigued by not just for matters of safety, but also for matters of how many different ways can I get somewhere. You know, sometimes it is just fun to drive around aimlessly.
Braeden won't be driving for another mmm 13 years, but when he does I will definitely be buying him a GPS unit and some sort of high-tech anti theft gizmo. I'm sure all cars will come mandatory with those items 13 years from now, but I'm sure you see where I'm going with this thought.
Rocky Mountain Tracking is the single source for all your GPS tracking needs. They even have some auto trackers which allow you to review detailed information about a vehicle's travel activities without actually being there. Hmm...sounds a little sneaky to me, but might not be a bad idea for those rotten hoodlum kids who need some strict following. =o)
Happy Webbies is a site that has a bunch of hilarious graphics like this one and you can save them to use them as desktops. I on the other hand will be saving them and sending them to fellow nerd friends to make sure some laughter fills the air today. =o)
The press release states that Samsung has announced their development of NAND flash software specially created for high performance multimedia applications.
"The new 16Gb flash software supports increasingly popular Linux systems and enables chipset designers to reap the full storage and performance advantages of Samsung's 16Gb NAND," said Youngjoon Choi, Vice President.
Adobe announced that it will be creating an online version of Photohop within the next 6 months! The company already offers Acrobat Connect, a service for Web conferencing introduced with the most recent release of its Acrobat PDF reader. But I feel the online image editor will reach a wider and more diverse audience.
The online image editor is said to be laying the foundation for Adobe Remix, a Web-based video-editing tool.
The program will be free and similar to Adobe's more sophisticated image-editing tools, including Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Hmmm, this is an excellent way to tempt an otherwise non-interested user into wanting the said "more sophisticated" product. Adobe, you sneaky weasels!
This just adds to the many reasons for why you should go to Adobe MAX. Adobe MAX, Chicago, USA, Sept. 30 - Oct. 3.
Okay, I'm going to have to be all geek girl on you right now, because these panties are just too geeky and fun to not talk about and I didn't want to throw them on the design section, because they are too geek worthy!
"Girls, send a clear message to that special geek in your life with these boy brief panties. Access is denied until the proper credentials have been supplied."
ROFL!
Ohhh and I saw Nintendo panties. The controller suggestively placed right out in front. ;oP
This will be shocking to you, but sometimes I forget my camera. I know, I know, it's unheard of, but I do. So I'll snap pictures with my phone or even grab 15 second video snippets if it's video worthy.
Some of my friends can't get media on their phones though, so it's hard to share the goods sometimes. In comes, Cellfish.com where you can upload your own or find videos, pictures and upload or Download Ringtones to share with friends. Your "stash" sits in a digital locker. Once it's in your digital locker, you can automatically share it with your friends.
So this picture was uploaded into my locker and now I can easily embed it.
But even cooler than that, it gets sent to my cell phone so now I can show people the photo on my phone OR send it via the net. You log into your digital locker via your phone and you can grab things out of there. It's really all so easy. I'm impressed and I'm kind of shocked this hasn't been done before. It is kind of like it's own little social network, because you can make friends with other people and share things with them either on your page online or through your phone.
Cellfish Media offers a cutting-edge international portfolio with a catalogue of over 80,000 pieces of mobile content. And they have agreements with over 200 major media, brands owners and operators.
Look at this webcam and tell me you don't want to start talking in alien gibberish. It seriously looks like a little alien to me. The camera popped up out of the top like that, it's dying to ask you to take it to your leader.
And as for functionality the webcam has an integrated microphone. It is a 640x480 camera that can rotate 300 degrees with 25 degrees of tilt. Twisting the silver sing in the center will adjust the volume.
It is cleverly called The Alibi and is made by the company Boynq. Though it is supposed to be available for purchase on Amazon we have yet to find the listing.
When I was a senior in high school one of the first things I began preparing for was how in the world I would pay for college. My best friend and I went to the counselor's office every week and checked on the new college scholarships being offered. We applied for every single one we even remotely qualified for...
On the day of the Senior Awards no one knew which scholarships they had been awarded. My name was called so many times the principal asked me to stay on the stage at one point. The moral...just try. There are so many people who think they don't have a chance and so they don't try. If you apply yourself, find the scholarships and turn them in on time you DO have a shot. I am proof of that, I didn't have a 4.0 GPA and I wasn't captain of the softball team, but college was important to me and I knew my parents didn't have the means to pay my way. So you can do this, I'm telling you!
In addition to bombarding the counselor's office you can also run through databases online. Like at Scholarships.com, they will give you access to 2.7 million scholarships & grants worth over $19 billion. You don't have to worry about scams either. "Scholarships.com's staff reviews and approves each scholarship offer submitted to our database and many steps are employed to make sure the more insincere offers do not get through."
Their "mission is to assist students in obtaining college scholarships and to help them and their parents explore the many available scholarship opportunities and any other financial aid information that might prove useful."
So I'm asking you to just look. If you are getting ready to enter your senior year of high school you need to start looking for ways to pay for college now. Yes, you do. College is so important and as time passes it keeps getting more and more expensive. Every little bit counts, so apply on local and national levels. Apply yourself and apply for scholarships. =o)
And I thought laser guns were still a ways off in to the future. Not so. Today I came across this German company which uses the Clean Laser System to clean without chemicals. An ultra compact laser mounted on a tech's back pumps a 20 watt beam of light to vaporize substances such as oil, grease and paint. It's non abrasive so it's safe to use on many different surfaces. But, it's a portable laser gun..you know someone's got a jacked up version of this.
I wrote the post under Entertainment, because to me that is what WoW really is...
But to sum it all up...you can look for a big screen WoW movie to come out in 2009 AND there is a new expansion for those who are itching to reach level 80.
It may be necessary for me to begin looking for yet another web host. The company I currently use is constantly doing "maintenance" that never seems to go right...or even help for that matter.
Web hosting information is easy to come by, but they all seem to sound the same to me. I need a way to compare and feel comfortable with the options.
And apparently there is now a site you can go to for people who are in your corner, trying to help you with it all. Web Hosting Information provides you with useful web hosting related resources and company reviews.
They seriously break it all down for you. You read their take on all the different hosting environments out there now. You can compare features, prices and server space of all the hosts that claim to be the best. There are positive and negatives to almost all of the reviews, so it's not like they are trying to sell you everything.
Even if you will be needing a PHP friendly environment, or a hosting server that is UNIX friendly, there are a plethora of resources for you to peruse to meet your specific needs.
Most importantly to me are the disk space I get and the reliability of the host. I need a lot of disk space because I run several different blogs; with photos and music. So I also need to take into consideration the monthly data transfer allowed by the host. For those of you making money off your sites, they have resources available for e-commerce hosts as well. It's easy to find everything because they have a drop down box, search widget allowing you to customize your results.
They also have a weekly podcast where you'll get all of the latest hosting industry news and reviews. If you're not patient enough for a podcast then you can subscribe to their RSS feeds.
Their latest entry on the news feed discusses "Kagi recently announcing their new partnership with Microsoft that will make their entire catalog of products available through the Microsoft Windows Marketplace shopping portal."
Geez louise, I just don't get marketers sometimes. I mean I think this type of branding may actually deter me from getting involved with the product.
"FogScreen, a "walk-through projector" that will allow ads to fill entire spaces, such as walkways in subway tunnels, with an ad that you can walk right through." The FogScreen produces a thin curtain of "dry" fog that serves as a translucent projection screen, displaying images that literally float in the air. Hmm. Is this safe? Will something like this block hidden cameras from witnessing crimes? You could shine a light on this fog and make it very hard to see through. I certainly wouldn't put these ads in a subway where people could take advantage of this curtain. Not to mention the fact that there will be consitent water consumption involved.
The pros of course being that you'll never have to climb up on a table to reach the gizmo that is a physical projector and see why it won't turn on. Nor will you get smacked in the face by a projection screen that just will not cooperate. And the add-on features make it possible for you to interact as a consumer and write on the fog with your hand which is pretty snifty.
Sure this could be exciting, maybe I want a hologram in my house. But I really am not comfortable with the idea of having to walk through one in a subway. It's great that new forms of media are in development for advertisers who really want to WOW their customers. I'm just not so sure about this project yet. We'll have to see how it pans out.
When I worked for The News Journal in their online department, one of the biggest things sponsors, advertisers and reporters had in common was their desire to know the click through rate on their stories, ads or contests, etc. Seriously, they may be late in getting you their material, but you sure as heck better me on time in getting them their stat reports.
So when people talk about Click Through Rates (CTR) I can completely understand. Knowing the average ctr of a particular story or banner ad can allow you to see what type of people your site is targeting. The better you know your audience, the better you can serve them and improve your traffic/profits.
I'm sure you have noticed that all of my section have sponsored posts from time to time. There are so many times when you can hear from a company who likes your site and would like you to do a write up for them. The fact is that not only do people click on sponsored posts, on average they click through at a higher rate than any other media I am aware of; 10.545% average CTR to be exact. It's just like those of you who like to read customer reviews, you know who you are. =o)
Awhile back I wrote about Club Pengiun, a kid-friendly social network, for the "Her Kids" blog published on delawareonline.com. Having a place for fun chats and games that parents can trust is something that is long overdue. So, I quickly wrote up about some of their features like how kids can pretend to be penguins and decorate digital igloos.
Clearly I am not the only one who was impressed with this site, because Disney is paying $350 million, and is willing to double that if Club Penguin hits earnings goals in 2008 and 2009.
We shall see how this goes up against Neopets which was really big with children about five or six years ago. Personally, I am all for being a pretend penguin! =o)
That's the motto for the Orange wind charger prototype. "The wind generator produces enough power to trickle charge an independent rechargeable battery."
They say that it is a convenient solution for people who spends a lot of time outdoors camping or hiking or whatever it may be...and still must have their cell phone attached to them. =o/
Windmills for energy is nothing new, but thinking outside of the box and figuring out ways to store energy for even small products like a cell phone is pretty darn cool.
So you're fresh out of college, looking for a job in graphics or marketing. It's not easy, especially if you live in an area like Delaware. So you've got to pull out all the stops. My resume is accented in turquoise and my initial head the page graphically. It's visually appealing.
But when you wall into an interview and hand them the paper, they'll glance at it and then perhaps place it on their desk, right? Or worst yet, you are "cold calling" and dropping your resume off in person before even being invited for an interview.
So how do you make sure your resume is top of the pile and pronounced? You can buy one of those expensive portfolio kits, or you can be more original and try printed folders, sticky notes, premium business cards all personalized with your own logo.
VistaPrint allows you to upload your own design and/or logo to be custom printed onto your medium of choice. So you can be as unique as you want. It will work, trust me.
Don't get tired of those bland white flamed candles - you can spice up your life with colored flames from Rainbow Moments. Choose candles that display green, orange or purple flames - sexaay. They even have lamp oil for you that will have your lamp shooting out purple flames! The Rainbow Drip is a candle that melts wax of different colors. SEXAY!. Use them for all kinds of moments - birthdays, dinners or sexay time.
Recently the Department of Defense has granted $1.6 million to the Center for Bioelectronics, Biosensors and Biochips at Clemson University towards the research and development of a chip that would be be implanted into a U.S soldier to monitor vital signs. About the size of a grain of rice, the chips would ideally be capable of detecting oxygen and glucose levels in tissue. The device has other long-term potential applications, such as monitoring astronauts’ vital signs during long-duration space flights and reading blood-sugar levels for diabetics. Researchers estimate the chip is approximately 5 years from human trials.
But why in the world would Panasonic ask her to promote their brand? What in God's name were they thinking? And why does it look like she doesn't have any arms in this photo?
But the press release says this marketing ploy is to target the Latin American market. And so perhaps Shakira isn't such a bad choice.
Shakira's first appearance will be in ads for new models of LUMIX digital still cameras. The recent commercials have been filmed in the Bahamas and Shakira will represent Panasonic until March of 2008.
