Ah Google grid my how you have grown over the last nine years.

From search engine to google gadget ads, google docs, google presentations, google talk, google e-mail, google earth and google sky. I'm sure I am missing some things, but truly how does one keep up with all the googling that happens!

Today may be Google's 9th birthday and they definitely have grown as a company, brand and Internet entity, but they are always looking for more. Molly Peterson from Bloomberg tells us that today Google will be in court defending a $3.1 billion purchase of DoubleClick Inc. The argument from Google is that the purchase will boost competition in online advertising. I wasn't aware there was competition. I mean doesn't Google already have AdSense and AdWords?

So who is the opposition in the case? Microsoft of course! And oddly enough AT&T is in Microsoft's corner. "Microsoft, the world's largest software maker, and AT&T Inc., the biggest U.S. telephone company, have said the transaction would let Mountain View, California-based Google dominate the online ad market."

Jumping from court room to court room, Google is currently being ripped apart over their copyright rules in regards to Google Videos. "A US-based copyright watchdog has sunk its teeth into Google by sending a report alleging copyright violations on Google Video to members of Congress." Ohhh! Shame, shame! But come on folks, lets get real, there is just NO WAY for anyone (even Google) to keep up with all the video uploads that happen during any given cyberspace minute. So go ahead and point your finger at Google saying they are hosting pirated movies, it's absurd and the more fighting over such things will only mean shutting down online video uploads completely. So unless y'all have the money to host files of that size on your own then you need to BE QUIET!

It's also rumored that both Google and Microsoft are trying to get a piece of the Facebook action. I can see it now... Facebook being overridden with horribly designed advertisements just like MySpace. Another social network doomed to go down the tubes.

More Google in the news today is related to the percentage of Internet searches come through Google as opposed to Yahoo or MSN. Google conducted 56 percent of all U.S. Internet searches in August.

And last but not least is the page rank gossip. Is Google really getting rid of page rank? The rumors began because for the last several months, Google has not updated their page ranks. This is the longest span of time that has ever elapsed since page rank became the way to tell just whose website was "the best." We'll just have to see what happens. My guess is they are changing the algorithm involved in calculating the rank, but one never knows. Page Rank is the thing Google is most secretive about, probably because it is the most coveted of their tools.

When I first saw this I didn't believe it.

It's true though, GameGoods, is a website created for gamers who play WoW or other MMORPGs in an online gaming community. And instead of going through killing enemies to pick up their gold, you can buy wow gold using paypal and have it sent to your server and character.

Me? No, I can't do it. I have far too much fun gaming of my own accord. But sites like this only exist if people can profit and take advantage of buying their game money on the sly.

If you're not familiar with WoW, then you might be wondering what the big deal is, but wow gold can be used to buy items, armors, weapons etc. It even helps you to fly from one place to another and stable your pet if you happen to have one.

So if you like the quick and easy method, then I suppose GameGoods is for you. EBay banned the ability to sell WoW goods like this, so other people are picking up on that I suppose.

*puts armor on and stands back to brace herself*

I know nothing about Halo 3.

Eeeeek! Don't hit me too hard, I'm just a little girl! Okay so I'm little but I'm tough, but still, be gentle.

The hype lately has been on Halo 3. There are television commercials for it, huge lifesize posters and figures found in department stores pointing the way to the pre-order signs and now to the actual game since today is the release date. Halo 3 is all the rage apparently.

What is so special about this video game? I just don't understand! The only game I drool over is WoW, I'm seriously obsessed with it and find myself going through some sort of withdraw when I can't play it.

More than one million pre-orders for Halo 3 have been placed worldwide, and Microsoft anticipates that first day sales of the title in the US will bring in more than $140 million.

What's so special about this game, someone tell me? Are there quests? Do I level and learn new skills and talents?

All I know is from what I have read which has stated that Halo is a series by Microsoft and is supposed to be the best first-person shooter game ever. Is it so good that even Pontiac dropped millions of dollar to cross promote the game? Good grief!

Well I hope everyone enjoys the game. For me, I'll keep perusing the Halo 3 website, it's pretty wicked cool.

Again I read about things like this and immediately think of my brother. He has so many ideas and inventions in his head it is crazy. Often times it is difficult to put things into gear and move forward with ideas. This is why entrepreneurs need networking help, because it's not easy to find direct sales business opportunity.

Direct Matches has the networking capabilities to help you spread the word about your business ideas. Basically they do a lot of the footwork for you with people you might not ordinarily be able to reach. Having the chance to increase your visibility based on keywords and information you provide is something that is not easily done. But if you have a link on a high ranked business networking site then you are sure to receive more requests and visitors.

On August 30th a press release went out that stated, "DirectMatches.com Becomes Major Player in Business and Social Networking Market, capturing a wide margin of the small- and home-based business market. Investors clamoring for a shot at a piece of the action."

Being able to participate in a direct sales business opportunity such as marketing your business with this company is something that can definitely assure you begin or continue to climb the ladder of success.

Even if you are already in the process of expanding your business, this is something to add to the list of things to try. They have different opportunities to trial, including a free one. If you like their service and become a paid member you will have chances to make money from them, because people will be referred to them from your business website.

And as if you needed further incentive to check them out and see how they can help you, they are also throwing a contest to win a new BMW or Hummer.

No, I'm not having speech problems (though I wouldn't blame you for wondering) Yuuguu is the name of a demo launching in the UK which will allow more than just desktop sharing, it will also allow the sharing to go mobile.

"Yuuguu, a name apparently derived from the Japanese word for fusion, enables users to see, share, and control other computer screens and applications."

Their site states the application was built because the company recognizes the changing world of work. Many people check their e-mail from their iPhone or Blackberry. So now they can actually work on their work desktop computer from a mobile gadget. Through any firewall, across platforms and with as many colleagues as needed.

Once upon a time we all used AOL. We dialed in on our modems and waited while the scratchy sound finally connected.

"You've got mail," were the coolest sounds ever and there aren't many other three word sentences that can boost your ego so quickly. Especially audio clips said in a robot voice.

Buddy lists were the MySpace Top 10 and you could attach wavs to your e-mail, feeling all special and cool. How many times did you click the heart on a page to add it to your AOL favorite bookmarks.

Now, a dozen years later most people have cable internet, some are switching to fiber wires. E-mail inboxes fill at fast paces with hundreds of e-mails (mostly spam) and you can add friends into messengers no matter who they are signed up with. Throw an MP3 up on your home page and have people download it rather than spend 30 minutes trying to get the attachment from their e-mail client.

And who is monopolizing this era of technology? That's easy, it's Google.

You have gTalk, gMail, gDocs, gSpreadsheets and now gPresentations. Google has made it easy to collaborate, correspond, real-time edit and present slide shows and other types of presentations. With ease you can publish presentations to the public or individuals of your choice with e-vites.

No need to save a Power Point to your laptop and then lug it to your next conference meeting. Now you can log into any computer and grab it from your Google account.

Let's just hope the Google grid never goes down...or becomes a paid commodity.

So many networks to choose from, so many people submitting and a whole world of people as the audience. I thoof that the best way to go would be to read all their feeds, keep up with the news, but it became a full-time job. Every time my inbox emptied it was filled right back up again. You would thoof that piles of feeds would mean different stories, but that's not the case. Each social network had the same stories and I was reading duplicates. I needed a place for personalized news. One place!

Thoofing about where to go for ONE news portal was overwhelming.

So as I had my head in my hands, thoofing so hard you could smell the brain wires frying, it came to me.

Like magic. **Thoof** Right out of thin air.

If you have one main portal for all the latest news it really WOULD be like magic.
And you would find yourself going in all different directions to get the very same news. A place to have your own personalized news. It's a brilliant thought!

Making matters even easier would be a simple way to share your brilliant thoofs with your friends. And they even have an answer for that idea. The ThoofRank badge. Since everything is user generated...and you are the user, the badge can be embedded on your personal site to share with your friends the news you prefer. They can read it too and as you may have guessed, it will calculate a rank to show the percentage of other Thoof stories that your story is better than. Hehe.

AND THEN Thoof will suggest similar types of news for your and your lurkers!

Magic = Poof = Brilliant Thought

    It's THOOF!

Techcrunch was invited to view the new and improved Delicious.com social bookmarking site. Screenshots show the newest version will be a little bit more digg like and easier to follow.

The new interface will have four main segways: Home, Bookmarks, People and Tags.

Your bookmarks will look completely different. Popularity of a bookmark can be determined quickly by the width and shade of the blue box around the save count. Interesting little addition there.

There will also be several new ways in which to sort through the site. This will help with organization so it's cool they thought of adding sorts. Of course as Techcrunch states, this is all very beta because the people invited to preview will be leaving feedback.

Finding music composing software that is easy enough to use, but also allows the production of quality tracks is something I know a lot of singer/songwriter folks struggle with when they try to record on their own.

The company who creates Finale software is "MakeMusic" they are the only company that creates, owns and licenses the most advanced and patented technologies and solutions that support the composition, arranging, teaching, learning and playing of music. Knowing they create products to help teachers and composers should help you to be more comfortable with their background.

Finale can record or import a mono or stereo audio file to enhance playback. The 2008 version of the software comes with more than 250 world-class Garritan instrument sounds. After hearing back from customer's on how they can better their software, the interface has been newly streamlined to be more efficient, intuitive and consistent.

Now that Braeden is fully engrossed in playing WoW with Brian and I, I have already begun scheming to figure out how we can all play together. Eventually I feel we'll have to go wireless. We have two desktops and two laptops, WiFi and WoW could be fun, but troublesome without the right equipment.

Brae is still getting used to using the keyboard and mouse, moving him to a laptop could be hard. I mean...he isn't even four years old yet and he is already gaming, but there are still limitations. Haha. BTW his undead guy "Codfish" is level 4 after only 2 hours of playing. He's going to end up kicking my butt I just know it.

Vigor Gaming is developing wicked fast and graphic intensive laptops for those of us nerds/geeks out there who need such a thing.

According to the Vigor site, their Atlantis notebook is the best gaming laptop out on the market. "Powered by dual NVIDIA GEFORCE GO 7950 GTX graphics cards with discrete 1GB DDR-3 video memory employing SLI Technology, the ATLANTIS delivers ultra-high performance in games and brings stunning, high-definition, superb picture clarity."

Aw man that is sa-weet! Too much for my little boy, but someday I just might have to splurge. We'll see how quickly he levels ;o)

"Jott is a revolutionary new service that automatically converts your voice into e-mail and text messages-anytime, anywhere, with any cell phone."

Their motto is: "Think it. Jott it. Get it done."

Before becoming founder and CEO of Jott, John Pollard was a Senior Director in the Mobile Devices group at Microsoft. Interesting, very interesting. Co-founder and Vice President Shreedhar Madhavapeddi started his career at Microsoft as a Windows NT developer, but soon sought out start-up groups inside Microsoft, and made significant contributions to Windows CE, Mobile Information Server (now in Exchange), Smartphone and MSN Messenger.

The entire Jott team currently consists of men and it seems as though they are all fully mobile. Perhaps Micro(soft)Mobile.

With Jott Links, users can now call Jott and leave voice-to-text messages on the following services:
WordPress (both .com and on local installs)
    Twitter
    Jaiku
    TypePad
    Zillow
    LiveJournal
    Blogger
    30 Boxes
    Yahoo Groups
Sounds pretty powerful to me. Hands-free but voice required, so make sure to go blue tooth, because now you're for really going to need it.

Oh there is nothing like coming back to your office after a 3-day weekend only to find out that your PC has been attacked by spyware. I left my machine on, but I thought it had been locked. Needless to say there were 287 things picked up with the filter that catches ad-ware programs.

Being a University, the machines around here all have virus security, but I have to say I put a spyware checked on my machine on my own, because the defense against those things is needed since they are so prevalent these days.

It's not my job to talk you into looking for ways to secure your own network or PC, but you definitely should. Check out places like Filterweb.com, because they have reviews and guides on everything from internet security to spam blockers to instant message chat protection. If you work on a computer all day and it's a means to your livelihood, why would you not want to protect it? Ya know?

At this particular site you'll only be looking over the best. Every piece of hardware or software program discussed have all been highly rated by the various PC magazines that rate software. Give it a looksie. ;o)

It is possible that being allergic to our new house is a bit of an exaggeration. It's just that every morning for the past 8 days I have been a sneezing, sniffling mess having to pop the Allegra and Sudafed like it's my breakfast cereal.

So Brian thinks we might need an air purifier. The froogle hunt begins.

But in the search I came across the geekiest air purifier of them all. For those of you snifflers who want to spy on people while breathing cleaner air.

"All you do is touch the "Arm" button on the convenient remote control. Clock will beep once to verify command and quality black & white video recording will begin the instant motion is detected and will continue until 15 seconds after motion ceases."

After you do the spying you simply pull the memory card out and put it in your PC much like you would for your digital photos.

Does anyone else think this is crazy?
