She sang as a soprano in the local choir at the mere age of 7 years old.
Emiliana Torrini Daviosdottir released her first album when she was the young age of 17. Since then, she has released four other albums AND participated in five collaborations. By the age of 28 Emiliana had seven singles. If you can't tell by her name, she is from Iceland, but as faraway as Australia her music is even being used in ad campaigns. More famous than that she is included on the "Lord of the Ring: Two Towers soundtrack."
There is a classical feel to the music she releases. Her vocals are pristine and deeply colorful like bright red rose petals raining down from a vibrant Sapphire sky. I really can't put into words how gifted she is; it's exquisite. Emiliana is also quite humble, in fact she laughs nervously on stage when the crowd sings along. She can't believe she has that kind of a following.
Her last album was released in 2005
Fishermans's Woman did so well she was nominated for four categories at the Icelandic Music Awards. She ended up winning Pop Album of the Year, Singer of the Year and Video of the Year.
I don't know why people aren't gushing over her and snatching up all of her music. She's not an unknown entity in the music world. She has toured with the likes of Sting, Dido and Travis.
