SaturnaSome Delicious Enemy launched on June 12, 2007 by Nexus Underground. Less than a month later they were invited to play
MusicfestNW in Portland, Oregon! This is a huge deal because
Saturna will be sharing the stage with acts such as Spoon, Wolf Parade and The Thermals!
They are also charting at #1 on Bagel Radio from San Francisco. Sounds like success to me, but it's not until you hear their music that you know..it doesn't just sound like success; it IS success.
Who are there?Ryan Carroll steps forward with lead vocals and
guitar, Eric Block with lead guitars, Matt Badger with drums and Steve Anderson
with bass guitar and backup vocals.
"Saturna is an indie rock band that plays fuzzy, dirty, driving, psychedelic bliss pop." You can throw in shoegazing, dreamy and at times some pretty intense rock. They remind me a little bit of Sonic Youth. In short, it would be criminal to overlook this band.
The song getting most of the glory in the blog world is "Pop Rocks," but I'd have to say my favorite track is "Roll Down." I think you will find the entire album is full of possible favorites. Although admittedly I could do without "Just For Thrills" but that's just because lyrically I'm not loving it, the music still sounds fantastic. Don't get me wrong, it's amped and it's hardcore, but angry and bitter, too. Moving on to "Leader of the Western Stars" this song is incredibly beautiful. The vocals are perfect!
