She is best known for her hit single "
I Love Rock N' Roll
", which was #1 on the Billboard charts from March 20 to May 1, 1982, as well as for her other popular recordings including "Crimson and Clover", "Do You Wanna Touch Me", "Light of Day", "Love is All Around", "Bad Reputation," "I Hate Myself for Loving You," and "Little Liar."
And of course, Joan Jett, is a native of Philadelphia which makes her even cooler. Her music was rejected by nearly 30 music labels when she started out. So she became the first woman to build her own rock and roll record label.
On September 22, 2007, her 49th birthday, while Jett was on tour with Aerosmith on their 2007 World Tour, Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, came out during Joan's set with a cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. How wicked cool is that?
Looking forward into 2008, Blackheart will release a Joan Jett Greatest Hits CD/DVD package, due out in August, along with a Blackheart debut album from Seattleās The Cute Lepers.
