For my friends and my family

Our home was robbed

By Christy On Friday, November 7, 2008 At 12:28 PM

Wednesday, early evening on the way to pick Braeden up at daycare after work, my husband called to tell me our house had been robbed. Since then I have been either stone silent, sobbing hysterically or blood boiling angry.

There were several items taken including jewelry, but the police are supposed to handle all that, right? Laptops (yes blog posting will suffer since now I'll be doing it from work) and video games are replaceable though of course all our Wii Fit progress is gone. =o) Forgive me for the quip and smiley face because the fact of the matter is I am in no way, shape or form, smiley about any of it.

Our home, our safe place, has been violated. Someone else was there, touching our things and in our space. There really isn't a way for me to accurately tell you how I am feeling about any of it.

Brian has spent a great deal of time cleaning and trying to erase all physical aspects of the robbery. I am so grateful to him because I couldn't do it and I don't know what I would do without him.

Braeden, in all his five-year-old wisdom has had the cutest and saddest things to say about the whole ordeal. When he first asked if the robbers took everything my Mom assured him they did not. He said, "I sure hope they didn't take my Pediasure."

Yesterday my Mom called after hearing him talk to one of his daycare friends about it.

She said Braeden was talking to Christopher about everything. So she listened in on their conversation. He told Christopher bad people broke into our house.

Christopher asked "What did they do?"
And Braeden said, "They broke my Mommy's heart."

He hit the nail on the head my friends. That is exactly what they did.

gosh, I'm so very very sorry to hear this. What a heart break! We've had our home broken into a couple of times. It's hard to describe the feeling of violation.

Will you move?

((hug)) for the broken heart

I'm really sorry! That is just a horrible thing to have to deal with. If there's anything at all that I can do, please let me know! :/

Oh man! I'm sorry to hear about that. For cleansing your home and making it feel good again try to perform some of your favorite "rituals", maybe bake something to fill the house with that wonderful scent. Rearrange some furniture to give things a new and different look. Oh honey, I'm reall sorry that you have to deal with this.

Those are some great suggestions. While I hope and pray it never happens to us - I'll keep those in mind.
