For my friends and my family

Pow kapow! Start to another week

Right now I am waiting for someone to get in at work and give me my new IP address so I can attempt to work from home remotely.

I'm also listening to Braeden play TMNT on his Gameboy. He just completed Act 7 do I'm assuming that means he is doing very well. Though I could do without all the weird sound effects.

We're home today because he is sick. His father and Jennifer brought him home yesterday evening and said he had a cough. After they left I took his temperature and indeed he had a fever. But this morning his fever is even higher at 102.8 degrees, he's a little furnace sitting next to me and so far the Motrin has not knocked it down much. So I called his doctor's office and am waiting for them to call me back since it forces you to leave a voice message! That is just so irritating. I made sure to call right at 8 a.m. so I wouldn't have to wait all morning for a response. Hopefully, they will call me back shortly, if not I'll just harass them.

As for the weekend, Brian and I had a nice weekend. We watched movies at home including "Eagle Eye" which we both ended up really liking. And we watched a Doris Day movie "Do Not Disturb" which was very cute as are most of her movies. On Saturday night we went to dinner at Polidoro with a gift card in hand. It was nice to go out and the salad was yummy but our meals were not, nor was the service so I don't think we'll be going back unless they change hands again.

Martian Child

Now that I have stopped crying I'm going to type-write. Brian, Braeden and I watched "Martian Child" tonight. Being a John Cusack lover I immediately bought the movie, pre-ordered it actually. I knew a little bit about it, but had no idea what a profound impact it would have on me. I'm a crier we all know it, but this movie was just so touching. There was so many instances during which I thought the little boy in the movie was a lot like my son Braeden. Different. Smart. And very different in the best of ways.

David (John Cusack) lost his wife two years prior, we don't know what happened but we know he is still torn up about it and we see him in the beginning of the movie at her grave. For one reason or another he and hie wife were planning to adopt a child and now two years later a call came in with a good "match." A child named Dennis needed a home.

Dennis (Bobby Coleman) claims he is from Mars. He spends most of his time in an upside down cardboard box peeking through a whole viewing the rest of the world. His excuse is that he is afraid of the Earth's sun. He duct taped batteries together to form a belt which he said was his weight belt. This belt was the only thing holding him down on Earth because Mars was trying to fight gravity to pull him back.

David feels drawn to this little boy because he was a "black sheep" of sorts growing up. Plus he is a writer and the topic he most often writes about is anything in the realm of science fiction. How interesting that a human who writes about Mar would have the opportunity to adopt a Martian who would like to feel more human...

I'm not even going to tell you anymore. If this brief tidbit intrigued you then watch the movie. I know it has a special place in my heart now and I will recommend it to anyone. Much like the movie "Man Without A Face" which to this day I insist everyone would watch before they die. Well now I can add "Martian Child" for a list of two MUST SEE movies.
