PETA is trying to entice people to become vegetarians by plastering a naked Alicia Silverstone on one of their most recent television ad campaigns. She looks good and all, but really, do we have to flaunt naked women in order to save a mink? Who are we showing more respect?
"I am Alicia Silverstone and I am a vegetarian."
Okay, well does that mean if I stop eating chicken nuggest I'm going to look like that? ROFL. I don't think so!
Anyway, the ad pot was supposed to begin airing in Houston, Texas. Houston was named the sixth fattest city in the nation by Men's Fitness magazine.
Houston banned the commercial saying it was too racy for them, but you can see it here. I wonder which Comcast chair person in Texas works gets paid by a Texas Longhorn Cattle farm...
Please don't ever say to me that someone is an autistic child. That's not the order in which a disorder should be prefaced. They are a child first, so say a "child with autism."
Anyway, Jenny McCarthy's son Evan has autism and she has been speaking out about the disorder in order to raise awareness.
When a neurologist told her the diagnosis, she said, "I believe my son is trapped inside, I'm not settling for this... I'm gonna get him out." Since then she has been researching and speaking to the public openly about what she and her son have endured.
I think it is brilliant that she is taking a stand and vocalizing her concerns. It is a shame that people don't listen if you don't have the money and the means as Jenny does, but that is beside the point. I really hopes this causes more researchers to look into the autism disorder and make more sense of it.
"Beyond doubt it was written in the stars that Jim and Evan were a pair," the 34-year-old actress tells People magazine in its Oct. 1 issue.
"He's actually helped Evan get past some obstacles I couldn't. I sometimes call him the autism whisperer. He speaks a language Evan understands, and Evan feels safe with him."
I knew there was something more I liked about Jim Carrey than I previously thought. The couple will do worlds of good for Evan and other children who have autism. I can feel this is the start of something big for the disorder.
According to Star Pulse, "The 22-year-old beauty was devastated when she broke both an exclusively designed Chanel necklace and a lighter while shooting period drama Atonement."
Hehe.
As you all know, I'm absolutely clumsy. Even my WoW character runs into walls, which Brian and I laughed about last night during our questing.
"I was wearing a Chanel necklace and it got stuck," Contactmusic quoted Knightley, as saying. "No one could budge it. We had to phone Chanel to ask if we could just break it."
I knew there was more to the reason why I liked her. Hehe. And she is awfully hot. Which I am sure Brian will attest to. Although I do think she could stand to gain a few pounds.
I love football season. You're going to have to read about it in this section. So get used to it. But here's the thing. I like the Eagles. My fiance and my brother like the 49ers. My soon to be in-laws like the Steelers. My dad likes the Vikings. My cousin Bobby likes the Packers. And my cousin Larry likes the Redskins.
See, that leaves room for A LOT of controversy. Especially since all of us really love football season. Haha.
Larry's birthday is next week. So I have been meandering into the online territory of the Skins to find some Redskins Collectibles, clothes, you know fan gear. It's easy to find gear for most teams, but this one is a little bit more difficult. Maybe because I'm on the east coast, I don't know.
Which means the best place to go is straight to the Redskins online store. It just so happens they have a BUNCH of new things right now and I'm half tempted to buy him one of the pink long sleeved girl shirts. Just as a joke. But I'd probably be the only one laughing. While looking through the store I came across a link for the Ultimate Fan Collection. THEY HAVE SKINS SOFAS. Lordie. No, Larry you're NOT getting it.
How about....a nice key chain? =o) Hmm, I think I'll be going with a hat. Safe bet.
Rock legends Led Zeppelin will reunite to do a tribute concert for late music mogul Ahmet Ertegun. The rumors have been going around the mill for weeks now. Today at a press conference in London, the band confirmed they are reuniting for this concert.
Led Zeppelin split up 27 years ago.
Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of their late drummer John Bonham.
If you want to be there, it is at London's O2 Arena on November 26, 2007. Ticket sale proceeds will go to the Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund which provides students with scholarships in the UK, US and Turkey.
Led Zeppelin release a 2-CD retrospective called Mothership on November 13th.
Nude photos, man when they surface for teeny bopper faves, no good can come from them. Vanessa Hudgens said the nude photo was taken privately. Regardless, it still surfaced and it is scandalous, because she is the pride an joy of two Disney flicks, both high school musicals.
She is 18 years old, I don't know when the photo(s) were taken, but the fact of the matter is they are now all over the place because people have nothing better to do than to start trouble. I saw the photo, it isn't trashy and it was definitely taken in a private place, unprofessionally. It sucks that someone gave it to the tabloids. I feel bad for her that a private moment in her life has caused such a muck.
The National Enquirer was the first to report of the photo's existence and it spread like wildfire. It's like Harry Potter all over again...except his wasn't a private matter, he got paid to take his clothes off...um..wait that makes it sound worse.
Oy vey. People, it's their bodies. As long as they don't strip in front of your kids then why make such a big deal? It isn't until y'all blow it out of proportion that it becomes this atrocious matter anyway!
Each fall we see new television line-ups. We lose some, we gain some and the hope is that everything balances out. Fortunately for me, "One Tree Hill" and "Smallville" are still airing on CW. But, we lost "Gilmore Girls" and I have mourned, but only briefly since I was irritated when Lorelai made the ridiculous marriage mistake...
A new addition to the CW line-up involves the blog of the "all knowing albeit ultra-secretive Gossip Girl." The premise of this show is based on the best selling series of "Gossip Girl" books.
The CW's "Gossip Girl" involves a cast in high-school and the gossip is about Manhattan elite...tends to be the high school students; especially Serena van der Woodsen who has left boarding school and is returning to Manhattan...
Since this show is coming to us on the CW, from the producers of "The OC" I have a feeling it will become a sensation quickly. The premiere is Wednesday, September 19th (9/8c) to be in the know before everyone else, check out the MySpace Fan Page.
As we all know Whoopi Goldberg is the newest member of the cast of ABC's "The View." She has already gotten off to a bad start by defending Michael Vick's actions regarding dog fighting and abuse as part of Southern culture.
Something tells me she isn't a dog lover...PETA is not going to be happy about that comment.
Whoopi's response to this foot-in-mouth debacle...
"I have 12 horses. . . . I have cats -- I've adopted cats from various shelters. I love my animals. But I also believe that if there's a problem out there that we can address by checking out where it stems from, that we need to take a look at this," she continued.
"That was my point and I'm very, very sorry -- PETA and I are very close," she said.
No shock that Barbara Walters announced they would be adding a second new co-host on Monday, September 10. The co-host will be Sherri Shepherd, which I'm excited about because I think she is flippin' hilarious.
Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have split after three years together. This all seems to add to the trend of Hollywood couples not being able to make it. It's all very sad really, I thought these two looked really great together.
Their daughter, Matilda, is 23 months old. Since the split is supposedly as amicable as a break-up can be, I'm hoping there won't be any custody issues, but you really never know. At least they never got married. =o/
Seems like to stay married as a celebrity would mean one of the people would have to stop acting and follow the other around. It really stinks when you both have to keep changing locations and sets. Bummer.
Because I am one of those people who really does view the Africams as a form of entertainment. As geeky as it may sound, it's cool to see an elephant walk up to a pond and start squirting itself with water. I mean how often do you see something like that "live" when you live in Delaware?
The idea of going on a safari never interested me until I started checking out the cams every once in awhile. But I've thought it would be pretty awesome to get out and go hiking instead of lion hunting. =o)
Eddie Frank with Tusker Trails offers over 30 years experience with Mount Kilimanjaro climbs and guided tours of Tanzania, Mongolia, and East Africa safaris and treks. You leave home with the comfort of knowing that during your climb all you have to worry about is putting one foot in front of the other. Sounds like my kind of climb.
The Tusker Team goes to great ends to ensure that your trip starts - and ends - on a superb note. Superb indeed, this sounds like something I would totally enjoy doing when I can find the time to do it. When the kids are all grown and I'm not working a 9 to 5 anymore. I'll be there!
