Remember the scuplture that was created of Britney Spears when she was pregnant? All the freaking hype that went on and on and on about it. And the mere fact that he named the sculpture, "Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston" only added to the controvery.
Well. The very same artist, Daniel Edwards, has done it again and this time with a The Oprah Sarcophagus. Bleck. It is a gold-colored bronze and depicts a very full-figured likeness of the numero-uno talkshow host.
What do you think, does it look like Oprah?
Daniels says this work, "pays homage to the closest thing America has to a living deity."
Drew Barrymore needed a good guy, one to keep her balanced and happy. It's so great to see this couple looking happy and googly eyed with each other. I know a lot of press are knocking their PDA but I think holding hands, smiling big and staying close to each other is something we need to see more of in LA. I just can't stand the couples who not only make out in public, but practically do each other with their clothes on. Bleck!
They have a movie coming out on August 1st, "He's Just Not That Into You."
Oh and in the world of celebrity babies the rumor is that Angelina Jolie is pregnant. But now there is word that Gwen Stefani is expecting her second child with husband Gavin Rossdale. =o) Gwen was asked if Gavin is being supportive and her response was, "He makes whatever food I crave." How sweet!
As it happens, Heath Ledger was just six weeks from finishing director Terry Gilliam's fantasy ""The Imaginarium of Dr. Parssanus." After hearing of his death the director postponed the film and wasn't sure if it would go on at all...ever.
But today rumors began milling about a replacement actor. Apparently at one point during the film Ledger's character falls through a mirror. It is possible when he reappears he could be "different" like a completely different person. They are currently working on that twist to the story and if it will work, but if it does work out, word on the street is that Johnny Depp will take it from there. I honestly can't think of anyone who would be better for the job.
As it stands right now all contracts for the movie have been halted under a clause which says everything can be nixed under dire circumstances. There have been over 100 people laid off from the set already. The film's makers issued a statement saying: "Terry and the producers will be assessing how best to proceed."
We'll see what happens. Johnny Depp is a very sensitive soul and might opt out of this opportunity for personal reasons. In other news, we do know that Depp has signed onto a new movie "Public Enemies." Directed by Michael Mann, the film is set during the great crime wave of 1933-1934, he will play Dillinger, one of the most notorious gangsters of the Depression era.
Not sure if I believe this one, but it's hitting news right about now. Tracey Edmonds has come out saying that she split from Eddie Murphy before they were legally married because he wanted to bring his mom on their honeymoon!
Eddie Murphy is hilarious, I love him as an actor and specifically watch movies with him in them just for that reason.
Edmonds also said she felt he was too controlling. Having been in relationships like that I can understand her wanting out. I wonder what he has to say about the situation. I'd hate to think these things are true, but if they are hopefully he'll open his eyes and make some changes.
Oscar-nominated actor reportedly discovered in Mary-Kate Olsen's home
When I saw this headline I didn't believe it, I didn't want to believe it. Heath Ledger could not possibly be dead. He is the new Joker and he has been photographed all over the place lately. How could he be dead?
But, he is.
At the age of 28-years-old he was found naked and unconscious with pill around him. I don't know about you but it seems very odd to me. He had an appointment at 3:30 this afternoon but when the housekeeper went to find him he was dead.
They call it drug related...suicide...I don't know. Something sounds off to me.
I'm very sorry about this news. I am quite upset actually. It shouldn't impact me, I don't personally know him, but I did respect him as an actor. I loved him in "10 Things I Hate About You" and "A Knight's Tale."
It is indeed a sad day.
I will offer my prayers for his daughter Matilda and all those affected by his untimely death.
Update: A rep for the singer said that Amy "was seeing a doctor who she regularly sees as part of her ongoing treatment. It was a regular appointment which she attends all the time. She has not checked in overnight."
*****
I thought she had done this once before, but maybe not?
Amy Winehouse singer left her East London home this afternoon in a blacked-out Mercedes and headed to the Edward House private rehabilitation clinic in North West London.
This trip was made after the surfacing of a video online which shows Winehouse smoking crack cocaine.
She'll probably be like the other female pop artists and check herself out after the first time someone insults her or insists she share something.
Her MySpace page is already buzzing with encouragement from supportive fans. And in another light they are all also thrilled she dyed her hair back to dark brown. Since she is white as milk the coarse, "straw-like" blonde hair didn't help her already sullen complexion.
It sounds like I'm going to need to watch this Juno flick. Have any of you watched it yet? Oh and YAY! for Ratatouille!

And if you would like to see a video of Bill Clinton falling asleep during an appearance at an MLK remembrance in an NYC church on Monday, click here. =o)
You can no longer wave a finger at Oprah for backing Obama, or you can but you'll also have to shake your head at Kate Walsh (formerly of Grey's Anatomy) star of Private Practice.
And now Ugly Betty's America Ferrera has hopped on the band wagon, but she's not on the cheering team with Kate and Oprah because she is backing Hillary Clinton. As is another one of the lovely actresses from "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," Amber Tamblyn. [SOURCE]
It's all good and well I suppose. Regardless of their fame, they are still citizens who need to go out and vote. I just don't want to hear "Oh well I voted for Obama because Oprah and Kate Walsh are on his side." You know what I mean?
Though I've tried before to tell her Of the feelings I have for her in my heart Every time that I come near her I just lose my nerve As I've done from the start
Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves are going to be parents! In regards to the news, McConaughey says, "Got some blessed news ... a celebration of life and a bounty .. a newborn conceived ... yes, my girlfriend Camila and I made a baby together ... it's 3 months growin' in her womb and all looks healthy and lively so far ... we are stoked and wowed by this miracle of creation and this gift from God.." Awww how sweet is he!? Precious. ** It's not always about celebrating celebrity babies...sometimes in the entertainment world you receive bad news. What became of the former child star who played a HUGE role in the 1994 movie "The Client"?
Brad Renfro, age 25, was found dead yesterday in his California home by his girlfriend. Foul play is not suspected; Renfro was an admitted heroin and methadone addict. Very sad. ** And of course the gossip mills are still going on about Britney Spears. It is so ridiculous, it even gets reported when she is spotted leaving a grocery store with her new boyfriend. Good grief people, let the girl buy her milk and eggs! She will be on the latest cover of OK! magazine this week so be sure to scoop the issue up for some (hopefully) positive news on Brit. ** John Mayer tells sports people not to mess with his ex Jessica Simpson. He wrote an entry on his personal blog defending her after recent attacks from Dallas fans that she has been nothing but bad luck since she and Tony Romo started dating. News flash...maybe his head isn't in the game because he is a BAD football player! Let's not give Jessica too much credit here, mmkay! ** And after 12 years on stage, raking in over $280 million, the Broadway play "Rent" will be closing the curtain on June 1st of this year. ** Plus American Idol began running some of their auditions on air last night. Turns out someone from Smryna, Delaware made the cut and went onto California so I'm interested in checking it out. Hopefully there won't be a Sanjaya to make a mockery of this year's season.
On Friday, January 11th, Courtney Thorne-Smith and her husband Roger Fishman welcomed son Jacob 'Jake' Emerson.
Nicole Richie gave birth to a baby girl the same day at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Harlow Winter Kate Madden (whoa) weighed in at 6 lbs., 7 oz.
The next day, Christina Aguilera and her husband Jordan Bratman welcomed a baby boy. Max Liron Bratman, who weighed 6 lbs 2oz. he is 20.5 inches and was also born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Hmmm....me thinks this means April is a good month to get it on. Hehe.
Next up will be Halle Berry and then perhaps Melissa Joan Hart...? Vice versa?
You know me, I can't resist celebrity baby talk. And this news makes me gleeful! Oh yes, I said gleeful. The rumorville has been busy calling out baby bumps, but this time they were right. Nicole Kidman is pregnant!
The news was confirmed yesterday by Kidman's publicist, Catherine Olim. It was also posted on Keith Urban's site.
I had thought they were planning on waiting, but we all know the best of plans sometimes change. Reports state that the couple are thrilled! They have been married, happily but with trials and tribulations, since June of 2006.
She was due to start filming for Stephen Daldry's post-World War II drama, "The Reader," but since finding out she is pregnant she has dropped out of the movie. I think that is best honestly, she and her husband should enjoy this time together with as little extra chaos you know...? Who wants to be a leading actress in a war movie when they're pregnant!? Good move Nicole!
I'm excited for them and I hope all goes well. I know she has had trouble in the past so I'll send up well wishes and prayers. =o)
For those of you who are home during the day to watch All My Children or you are such a fan that you tape it, you are probably thrilled that Rebecca Budig will be back in as Greenlee in a week or so.
Rebecca Budig left the show two years ago and moved to LA, but she is now back in New York and back on AMC. Woohoo! Rebecca married "Bachelor" Bob Guiney in 2005 and moved out to LA to be with him. The couple are still happily married and happy about this opportunity.
In other news of course is the next downhill spiral of Britney Spears. I have a soft spot for her and so I'm not happy about the media being so horrible. The girl is clearly distraught and depressed. The last thing she needs is everyone hating her based on all the negativity she receives from the press. No one ever says anything when her life is calm and happy, but as soon as something bad happens it is all you hear about. It is no wonder she is now in a hospital under suicide watch. Every time I see a picture of her she looks like a wreck, crying and lost. Then you see photos of Kevin Federline and he is smiling. I really believe he instigates it all and makes her look more out of control than she is.
Big whig quote of the moment: "Bill (Clinton) is every bit as black as Barack. He's probably gone with more black women than Barack," the former UN ambassador quipped on a live TV interview - immediately adding, "I'm clowning."
The chalk board nail scratching begins, Jessica Simpson is preparing her first country album. Why!?
*shakes fist Lucy style*
At age 27, Jessica Simpson is veering from pop and going country. She is currently in Nashville working on a new album. I don't care how great she looked as Daisy, she's not country! And I swear if I see her in cowboy boots and hats I'm going to spew.
"I am a country girl," she told a magazine. "I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to wait until the time was right."
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is her latest beau which you should know if you watch football since they show her in the stands more than they show the game on the field. Perhaps her new love has prompted craziness, because she even claims she'll pen some of the songs on her own.
I suppose I should try to be more optimistic though. Maybe she'll be "pop country" like Shania Twain...
Mmm no, no, I just don't see it happening...well, maybe if they really over produce the sound...? I don't know, what do you think?
