Emmy winning actor Chad Lowe is about to embrace a new role: Dad.
Lowe, who split from ex wife Hilary Swank in 2007, will welcome a baby with producer Kim Painter in early summer, his rep said in a statement, adding "The couple is overjoyed and could not be happier."

Taylor Swift may be starting her own dress line but she doesn't want to be called a designer.
The singer is teaming up with l.e.i. to create a collection of $14 dresses that will launch at Wal-Mart in February of this year. (Wal-Mart also sells clothes from the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen collection).
"Sundresses are my favorite things to wear," Swift tells New York magazine. "In the summer, I automatically want to look bohemian."

On Wednesday, the stunt double for Daniel "Harry Potter" Radcliffe sustained severe injuries from an on-set explosion.
The Harry Potter crew were doing some pre-production work for the seventh wizard flick at the Leavesden studios in England, where the stuntman was rehearsing a flying sequence using a harness. He was apparently sent plummeting by an on-set blast, which was part of the mocked up stunt. He was conscious after smashing to the ground but told horrified colleagues, "I can't feel my legs."

In the wake of Entertainment Weekly's having speculated Wednesday that Joaquin Phoenix - with the aid of his brother-in-law, Casey Affleck - was performing an elaborate ruse regarding his transition from Oscar-nominated actor to falling-off-the-stage rapper, Affleck's rep said this career switch is no hoax at all.
My guess is this is a very smart way of him getting free publicity. And that we should be expecting something true and talented in the future.

"The View" co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck made a special announcement on today's show!
Hasselbeck, 31, revealed on "The View" that she is expecting baby No. 3 in August. "We are thoroughly happy with the surprise of it," Elisabeth said. "We are thankful for such great news and will begin planning our zone-defense strategy immediately," she joked.

Kelly Rowland has split from her manager Matthew Knowles.
Rowland, 27, has worked with Knowles - the father of her former bandmate Beyonce - since she joined Destiny's Child in 1990.
Both Rowland and Knowles - who still manages daughter Beyonce - called the split amicable. Both say they will always be family.

Kate Beckinsale insists she's in no hurry to learn how to drive - because she loves being a passenger too much.
The Underworld actress - who doesn't have a driver's license - says her actress mother always used to strap her into the back seat of the family car and drive her for miles whenever she was upset as a teen, and still finds it comforting to let someone else do the driving.

It would not be shocking if Britney Spears opened her own dance studio. Dancing is therapeutic for her and she has fun working with children. I'm not sure if it will happen, but I do know there is speculation. I think she should definitely open one, but not until things settle down in her personal life.~*~*~*~
George Michael is coming back to the U.S. for what he calls a "rounding off" of his career's first phase. "I don't want to do anything on this scale again," he says. "No more stadiums. I'd like to be the Tony Bennett for my generation."

Victoria Beckham and Kate Beckinsale gathered their families together over the weekend. Victoria's boys, Brooklyn, Romeo and lil Cruz joined Kate's husband Len and their daughter Lily at the Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles. Aww so nice.

And tragically, the 31-year-old husband of Grammy Award winning musician Corinne Bailey Rae, Jason Rae, was found dead Saturday in a London flat. His death is said to have been related to a drug overdose. =o/

And, Reese Witherspoon's 32nd birthday was on Saturday (we share the date) but instead of celebrating with cake and ice cream, she took her kids Deacon and Ava out for a special surprise. She bought the children a pet piglet! Reese is a southern girl herself, and it looks like her kids felt right at home cuddling with those adorable little pigs.

Another reason to love Ryan Phillippe is his recent statement regarding ex-wife Reese Witherspoon and her boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. "He's a good dude. I love her and I want her to be happy, and it seems like she is." You can tel by that statement that he is still pained by their divorce, but I appreciate him making an effort to wish them well.What is our old friend David Schwimmer up to these days since he is no longer playing Ross Gellar? Well he is directing a movie starring Thandie Newton and apparently, David had a blast testing the waters as a director for his first film. As for the movie's quirky title, he said, "We came up with five pages of titles. But when we read them to people the only one they smiled on was 'Run, Fat Boy, Run.'"
And apparently I'm not the only blogger with a birthday this weekend. Because the biggest celebrity blogger of them all, Perez Hilton, is turning 30 this weekend!
Oooh one more thing before we go. A quick excerpt from a recent interview between Kate Beckinsale and the folks at Moviefone.
6. You told an interviewer you'd rather eat a vagina than sushi. When stuff you say makes headlines, what's the reaction of your publicity team? I have to say, sushi freaks me out more than almost anything. At least a vagina would be warm. [laughs] My publicist has literally turned a funny color and is going to go have a lie-down. He's throwing up now, as well. I find a lot of things kind of funny and I often say what's on my mind, and then get nine texts from all my friends going, "What's the matter with you?" But I haven't ever made a big attempt to have any particular image. And I don't really worry about it.
