It was announced yesterday that 30 Days of Night director David Slade has been hired to helm the third film in the Twilight saga, Eclipse. He's following in the footsteps of the series' first director, Catherine Hardwicke, and New Moon's Chris Weitz.
Why so many different directors? I'm not sure this is a good thing folks.

The Russian woman who claimed she was having an affair with Mel Gibson has been silenced - by the actor's lawyers.
Oksana Pochepa, 24, said during a press conference that Gibson's legal team feared an affair could cost the actor a fortune in his $900 million divorce.
"Until Mel and his wife Robyn settle their relations, no one has the right to speak about this," she said.
Shame on you Mel!

The X-Files star Gillian Anderson is set to return to her sci-fi roots - British TV bosses are lining her up for a cameo role in Doctor Who.
The 40 year old starred alongside David Duchovny in the cult 1990s show and two subsequent movies in 1998 and last year.
TV executives in the U.K. are reportedly keen to sign Anderson for a special one-off episode of hit show Doctor Who - playing a villain to do battle with the Time Lord in the ultimate sci-fi showdown.

After 5 years and 241 shows, Elton John is heading out of Las Vegas for a well-deserved break.
For his final Sin City show on Wednesday night Elton played his greatest hits, much to the delight of his adoring fans, whom he thanked for their support.
Before closing with Your Song, Elton said, "Who are you going to get to fill in our shoes now? You've got Bette Midler, you've got Cher. It's gonna be the Village People next. One day I might even see you in Vegas, OK? But until then, I love you."

Meat's not green, says Emily Deschanel in her latest PSA for PETA. The meat industry is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all forms of transportation combined, according to a recent report by the UN on Climate Change.
"There is no such thing as a meat-eating environmentalist. Now-a-days being green is very fashionable — especially in Hollywood," Emily says. "While I think it is terrific to recycle and drive a hybrid, you can have an even greater impact on the environment by making one simple choice: don't eat meat."
Game on. The race to 1 million followers on Twitter has a new player, after singer Britney Spears' manager made it known she has joined the competition.
For those who have not heard about it, the race started earlier this week when actor Ashton Kutcher challenged cable news channel CNN to a Twitter duel, promising to ring CNN founder Ted Turner's doorbell if he wins.
Then on Wednesday, Spears' manager posted the following statement on her Twitter page. "Let's get Brit across the million mark!," he wrote. It was the equivalent of the United States joining World War I after sitting on the sidelines, because Spears is a Twitter powerhouse with more than 940,000 followers as of Thursday afternoon.
Kutcher had challenged CNN to the Twitter race, saying he would donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for World Malaria Day in late April if he beat CNN, and 1,000 if he lost. CNN agreed to do the same.
And Kutcher wound up the winner. Go Ashton!

It's one of the most shrouded summer movie mysteries: What will actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt look like as masked baddie Cobra Commander in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra"?
The 28-year-old actor isn't giving away any details, but Gordon-Levitt says the villain's look was the main reason he signed on for the movie, based on the popular Hasbro toy line.
"The way the character looks, that's what ultimately convinced me to do the part," he says. "I saw the designs and drawings of the way they interpreted my character for this movie - the costume, the whole getup - and I was like, 'Oh, wow. I get to be that guy? Fantastic. Sign me up. Please. Thank you.'"

Miley Cyrus receives PETA's Compassionate Citizen Award
While filming Miley's new movie, Hannah Montana: The Movie, Miley saw chickens on the movie set and felt bad that the animals had to work - animals are not actors. Subsequently, Miley took several of the chickens home to care for and welcome them into her family. As a result, PETA is recognizing Miley's efforts and presenting her with their Compassionate Citizen Award!
Jennifer Aniston got to be a hero in LA on Sunday when she was out driving and spotted a dog wandering around alone. After catching up with the runaway, she kept an eye on the pooch until its grateful owner showed up. While Jennifer had a scare when her own pup Norman escaped from the house last week, this time it was her turn to help out a fellow animal lover.

"We average two a year, so I guess we're overdue." Brad Pitt jokes about adopting more kids to add to his growing family.
I am liking him less and less these days.

Director Stephen Sommers has denied asking Sienna Miller to wear a cleavage enhancing costume for upcoming movie G.I. Joe - after the British actress was reportedly "mildly offended" by the request.
Who cares if he asked her to wear one, she's an actress, costumes are part of the job regardless of what they play up or tone down.

About Lindsay Lohan being super skinny.
A rep says, "Lindsay is aware that she's lost some weight due to stress, but we recently did a photo shoot and she ate two full meals."
Um. If they had to divulge she hate too full meals then I would say there is a problem here.

'Veggie Love': PETA's Banned Super Bowl Ad but well-meaning lettuce group PETA doesn't even make ads to actually run on TV; they make ads to be rejected by TV networks, which gets them lots of sweet free publicity.

Supernatural executive producer and frequent director Kim Manners died last night after a battle with cancer. Creator and executive producer Eric Kripke had this to say:
"Everyone at Supernatural is walking around in a daze, shocked and absolutely devastated. Kim was a brilliant director; more than that, he was a mentor and friend. He was one of the patriarchs of the family, and we miss him desperately. He gave so much to Supernatural, and everything we do on the show, now and forever, is in memory of him."

Daniel Radcliffe "doesn't see the use" of the British monarchy - because they are the epitome of all that is "wrong" with the U.K.
The Harry Potter star, 20, insists he's "very" proud to be English - but believes the royals should not be put on a pedestal.
Damn. Fur? "I'd rather go naked." I'm happily married and very well satisfied by my husband...still I must tell you that (as air brushed as she may be) Eva Mendes is gorgeous.
What drew you to the idea of working with PETA on our "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" Campaign?
I wasn't familiar with PETA early in my career. I remember having my first premiere in New York City and being so naive that I didn't have a coat with me. My stylist sent me a fur wrap for the evening and I ignorantly wore it.
PETA then wrote me a beautiful letter commenting on my less-than-educated choice. I was so impressed that I vowed to them and myself to never wear real fur on the red carpet or in my life again.
PETA is trying to entice people to become vegetarians by plastering a naked Alicia Silverstone on one of their most recent television ad campaigns. She looks good and all, but really, do we have to flaunt naked women in order to save a mink? Who are we showing more respect?
"I am Alicia Silverstone and I am a vegetarian."
Okay, well does that mean if I stop eating chicken nuggest I'm going to look like that? ROFL. I don't think so!
Anyway, the ad pot was supposed to begin airing in Houston, Texas. Houston was named the sixth fattest city in the nation by Men's Fitness magazine.
Houston banned the commercial saying it was too racy for them, but you can see it here. I wonder which Comcast chair person in Texas works gets paid by a Texas Longhorn Cattle farm...
As we all know Whoopi Goldberg is the newest member of the cast of ABC's "The View." She has already gotten off to a bad start by defending Michael Vick's actions regarding dog fighting and abuse as part of Southern culture.
Something tells me she isn't a dog lover...PETA is not going to be happy about that comment.
Whoopi's response to this foot-in-mouth debacle...
"I have 12 horses. . . . I have cats -- I've adopted cats from various shelters. I love my animals. But I also believe that if there's a problem out there that we can address by checking out where it stems from, that we need to take a look at this," she continued.
"That was my point and I'm very, very sorry -- PETA and I are very close," she said.
No shock that Barbara Walters announced they would be adding a second new co-host on Monday, September 10. The co-host will be Sherri Shepherd, which I'm excited about because I think she is flippin' hilarious.
