When my husband came upstairs last night to tell me Patrick Swayze had died I was genuinely upset. Even though it wasn't as much of a shock as when Heath Ledger died, it still hit me hard. How does that happen? I don't know him and yet I'm quite saddened to know he lost his battle with cancer.
Demi Moore (Ghost) via Twitter - "Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives. In the words of Sam to Molly. 'It's amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.' I will miss you."
Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) - "When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see. (He was a) real cowboy with a tender heart... it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified. Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace. My heart goes out to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, to his mum, Patsy, and to the rest of their family."
In January 2008, Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He fought the cancer with courage and unfortunately lost the battle. He died Monday at the age of 57, with his family by his side.
"[He] passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his publicist, Annett Wolf, said in a statement.
Swayze's breakout role was in the 1983 ensemble movie, The Outsiders, but he was best known for his role as Johnny Castle in 1987's Dirty Dancing, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
He was also nominated for Golden Globes for his role in 1990's Ghost opposite Demi Moore and for 1995's To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.
His career also included performances in such films as Red Dawn, Point Break and Donnie Darko. His last role was in A&E series The Beast.

With much sadness in my heart... At age, 57, Patrick Swayze has passed away. May he rest now in peace. He will be greatly missed by many.
Maybe you and Chris Farley are up there laughing about your old Chippendale skit from SNL. Wherever and whatever... It is a sad time indeed.

Kelly Osborne, 24, has checked in to a treatment facility just outside Los Angeles, but no further details have been released.
Her mother Sharon confirmed: "Yeah, Kelly's in rehab. What else can we say? She knew that it was the right thing to do at this point and we're proud that she did it. The family is all standing behind her. Kelly knew that she needed help and she's getting it."

Actor Patrick Swayze is set to pen a tell-all book about his battle with pancreatic cancer - he's reportedly agreed to write a memoir with wife Lisa.

"Dogs cannot use condoms, but... they can be fixed painlessly, quickly and permanently. It is well established that killing stray dogs is not a permanent solution to controlling their populations...mass sterilization of stray animals is the most viable solution to nuisance and health concerns in addition to being more humane."
- Pamela Anderson speaking out after Mumbai's high court recommended that stray dogs be killed, saying they are a nuisance to the public.

Leonardo DiCaprio's environmental passions have been receiving a bit more press lately; especially in light of a new partnership with watchmaker TAG Heuer to benefit green initiatives. He recently commented on the political changes in the United States and what they mean for the environment saying, "I was in Rome when Obama won the election. He represents a whole new era. Obama gets it that green technology and the economy go hand in hand, that we can build an industry that will create new jobs and economic growth and make us less reliant on foreign oil."

Morrissey has a way with words when it comes to expressing his opinions. When asked recently by Maxim Magazine, 'Who in your life would you most liked to "kick in the eye"?', he replied, "That meat-fed horror Jamie "Orrible" Oliver. If he's a master chef, then I'm Miss Brazil 1970."

Just one more reason to love the great Morgan Freeman: the actor donated $17,000 to his local high school in Charleston, Mississippi, so that the high school students could finally hold their first integrated prom.
The documentary, "Prom Night In Mississippi," is premiering this week at Sundance. Freeman, who was outraged ("It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard") that children in his town were still dealing with segregated dances, hopes that the prom, and the film, will break down the separate dance system and the mentality that fuels it. "The kids are not going to want to go backwards," Freeman says, "They've got their toe in the water, and the water's warm."

Sources confirm that ubiquitous real-life couple Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz just closed a deal to guest star on CSI: NY.
A show spokesperson declined to comment, but I'm told the Wentz' will not be playing themselves in the episode, which is slated to air on March 18.

"I wanna make popular music, but I want less fans. I want the freedom of having less fans. It's like the freedom of having less money. If you have less money, you have less responsibility. It's like Bjork. If she wanted to pose naked, you'd be like, 'Oh, that's Bjork.' But if I wanted to pose naked, people would draw all type of things into it. I definitely feel like, in the next however many years, if I work out for two months, that I'll pose naked. I break every rule and mentality of hip-hop, of black culture, of American culture." - Kanye West in the new issue of Vibe

Bryan Fuller is back on Heroes and as promised, the writer-producer-genius behind the show's acclaimed first season will try to get Heroes back to its groove even if it means killing off some beloved characters. And his timing couldn't be better. Word on the street is that one of the show's major stars has asked to leave the series at the end of the current season.
Apparently, the Heroes cast member is upset with not getting enough screen time and is asking to be let go of his or her contract at the end of the season. And in order for that to happen, a death scene has reportedly been written for the actor's character at the conclusion of season 3.

Nicole Kidman isn't happy with her performance in "Australia," which pulled in just $47 million at the US box office. "I can't look at this movie and be proud of what I've done," the Oscar-winner recently told a radio station in Sydney. As soon as the film opened in November, Kidman fled her native land to avoid the critics: "We ran because I didn't want to read anything. I didn't want to know."

CBS and the show producers are rewarding the cast of How I Met Your Mother with a well-earned raise.
After months of renegotiations, Neil Patrick Harris and the four other main cast mates will now be earning $90,000-$120,000 per episode.
The Hollywood Reporter says that - on average - that's between two and three times what they made before.

Update: 8:59 p.m. - Swayze's representative, Annett Wolf has spoken, "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far," the statement read. "All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue.

The 55-year-old actor has allegedly been undergoing radical chemotherapy at Stanford University's cancer center but the treatments are no longer affective. "He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short - they held out little hope for a cure," said a source. "It's time to start praying for a miracle."
He has allegedly been undergoing radical chemotherapy at Stanford University's cancer center. Swayze has been married to Lisa Niemi since 1975 and she has been standing by him during these times, they have flown to the cancer center together each time he has gone for treatment.
Swayze is only 55 years old. He is currently signed on to two films. The Beast is set to air on television but is in pre-production and Powder Blue which is in post-production according to IMDB.
Of course until something is officially stated everything will remain speculatory, but we do know Swayze underwent surgery in California the first week of February. He had checked into the Stanford University Medical Center for a serious "gastro-intestinal procedure" but afterwards reports stated he was able to go home and was healthy.
