David Letterman said he and longtime girlfriend Regina Lasko had a bumpy trip to matrimony last week.
During a taping Monday of CBS' "Late Show," Letterman said he and Lasko married March 19 at the Teton County Courthouse in Choteau, Mont., but only after their truck got stuck on a muddy road.
Letterman and Lasko, whose son, Harry, was born in November 2003, didn't take an immediate honeymoon. The late-night host was back at work in New York on Monday to deliver the news — and a few jokes about the marriage.
"Regina and I began dating in February of 1986, and I said, 'Well, things are going pretty good, let's just see what happens in about 10 years,'" Letterman, who turns 62 next month, said at the taping, according to a transcript.
After avoiding marriage for more than two decades, Letterman said, "I secretly felt that men who were married admired me ... like I was the last of the real gunslingers, you know what I'm saying?"

Kiefer Sutherland will be back to play Jack Bauer for an eighth season of the hit counterterrorism drama "24," but the show's longevity will depend on its writers, the actor said Tuesday.
The 42-year-old said "24," currently in its seventh season, will start shooting its eighth in May. He spoke during an interview in Hong Kong to promote the new 3-D animated movie "Monsters vs. Aliens," in which he voices the character of General W.R. Monger.
Sutherland, whose gritty portrayal of the counter terrorism agent has made Bauer an iconic character, said he's committed to the show that's revived his career.

Angelina Jolie's extreme detox diet is causing concern on the set of her new film Salt, according to a new report.
The 33-year-old - who is currently in New York shooting the spy thriller - aims to shed 21lb in just 21 days for her role as a CIA officer unmasked as a Russian spy.
But the mom of six has sparked fears for her health - as everyone thinks she already has the perfect figure.
Jolie's is said to be living on a mixture of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup - and it's leaving her weak, reports British newspaper The Sun.
My opinion...she is too skinny and it's not attractive, she's been too thin for years now.
The photo of her is from the movie she is currently filming titled "Salt".
The film was to have been called "Edwin A. Salt" and the main actor should have been Tom Cruise, but when Angelina voiced her wish to do the character, the script writers changed the hero of the movie to a heroine.

Britney Spears' "ex", Adnan Ghalib, is facing felony charges, after he tried to get away from a process server, by hitting him with his Mercedes. The paparazzo allegedly "started to drive toward the man, who, in order to avoid being pinned against a garbage truck, jumped onto the hood of Ghalib's Mercedes. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is working hard at staying healthy and keeping fit.
"I feel like I deserve a treat when I work hard," said Louis-Dreyfus. "It's important to give yourself a little of what you really want so you don't feel like you're in food prison."
So what does the former Seinfeld star indulge in? "I have a chocolate drawer in my desk where I keep treats at all times," she says. "As long as I can have one or two pieces, I'm fine."
So is there anything she simply can't resist? "My biggest food vice is bacon," Louis-Dreyfus confesses. "In fact, I don't keep bacon in my house - that would be way too tempting."
My husband would understand this temptation, but I can tell you there is definitely bacon in our house.
