Oprah on Rihanna, Clarkson doesn't want to be a Mom

Ashlee Simpson has confirmed that she will playing a lead character in the new version of the hit television series Melrose Place.

The actress - who was a regular on U.S. television show 7th Heaven - says that she is extremely excited to be involved in bringing back the 90s drama which will feature a fresh new take on life in the Californaia neighbourhood.

"I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of Melrose Place," Ashlee tells Us Weekly.

"I look forward to being a part of its new generation of residents."

Ashlee takes over from the original cast - Heather Locklear, Marcia Cross and Kelly Rutherford - to play newcomer Violet.

Drew Barrymore insists she's still "close" to her ex-boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti - and has called her relationship with the Strokes drummer "the most important" in her life.

It was "one of the most, if not the most, important relationships I've had in my life," said Barrymore, who recently confirmed rumors she is in the running to direct the third Twilight film.

Usher was "forced" to retract his comments about Chris Brown, it has been claimed.

After Brown - who was arrested last month for allegedly assaulting girlfriend Rihanna - was snapped riding a Jet Ski at P. Diddy's Miami pad, Usher lambasted the Run It singer for not showing enough remorse.

"Have a little bit of remorse, man. The man's on Jet Skis? Like, just relaxing in Miami?" Usher said in a video for Jermaine Dupri's Living the Life series.

Oprah Winfrey has put in her two cents on the Rihanna-Chris Brown saga. "Love doesn't hurt and if a man hits you once he will hit you again," the talk show host said on her show. "I don't care what his plea is; he will hit you again."

Britney Spears has been working hard kicking off her Circus tour, so yesterday she treated herself to a little downtime by the pool.

Brit's been all about her boys and getting healthy these days thanks in part to her father who's supposedly very strict and recently fired three of her dancers suspecting them of drug use. Whatever works, we're all for it.

Kelly Clarkson on motherhood...

"Oh, my God, I have no desire. I would not be a good mother. I mean, I love being an aunt to my niece and nephew. And I used to want to, like, adopt 10 kids - because I had friends who were adopted, and I thought that was the coolest thing, to be chosen. But again, my job is too selfish."

Michael Jackson's series of gigs at London's O2 Arena are set to break the record for the fastest-selling tour ever.

The Thriller hitmaker, 50, announced last Thursday that he'd be playing 10 concerts beginning July 8th at the vast venue in the British capital.

And thousands of fans have already pre-registered for tickets on his website.

"It's crazy," an insider said. "Fans as far afield as Afghanistan, Africa and Australia are ready to board planes to attend.

Jilted Bachelor-ette, Melissa Rycroft, replaced Nancy O'Dell on Dancing with the Stars after the Access Hollywood host was sidelined with a knee injury.

After her public humiliation on The Bachelor, Rycroft got the ultimate ego boost by doing a show-stopping number to Moon River after just 48 hours of prep! Plus it didn't hurt that the judges all took swipes at her former TV honey, Jason Mesnick.

    Body image sucks and Clarkson Does Naked

    Jennifer Love Hewitt has weighed in on the Jessica Simpson 'fat' debate - to say she wishes everyone would stop debating the star's weight.

    The actress is the latest famous name to speak out in support of the Dukes Of Hazzard star after she became the butt (pun intended) of jokes about her heavier new look.

    "I wish they would leave her alone," she tells Usmagazine.com.

    Jennifer found her own body shape the centre of attention in 2007 after she was snapped flaunting her ample curves in a bikini while on holiday.

    It appears the age difference finally caught up with Heroes co-stars Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia who has reportedly split dues to "a lifestyle conflict."

    The two stars are believed to have ended their year-long romance last week but remain on friendly terms.

    Pals say it was 18-year-old Hayden's love of partying that eventually proved to much for their relationship to handle.

    The former American Idol star says she hates wearing clothes so much she takes every opportunity to strip off.

    She reveals, "I've always hated clothes.

    "I mean, I'm not naked all the time but if I'm in my house, hell yeah! Why not?"

    Teri Hatcher doesn't believe in dieting.

    The Desperate Housewives actress, 44, insists slobbing on the couch and scoffing crisps and sweets once in a while does everybody good.

    She says, "I am kind of a moderation person. I don't believe in dieting, I don't get all the Botox and the fillers and that stuff because I feel that we should embrace getting older and I want to be real about that and represent that instead of trying to cover it up.

    Then why does it look like someone laid her skin over a middle school science teacher's skeleton?

    In other Teri Hatcher news, could there be a girl to girl kiss scene coming up on Desperate Housewives?

    Producers have told Celebuzz.com that to make sure viewers don't abandon them, they've got extra-special plans for Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria Parker.

    "Anything is kind of possible right now," the unnamed exec said. "I don't think a kiss between Eva and Teri's characters could be ruled out, especially if it keeps people interested in the show."
