Republican Whip Eric Cantor has skipped his party's big annual fundraiser on Tuesday to attend Britney Spears' concert in Washington DC.
As confirmed by GOP aides to the Huffington Post, the House Minority representative went to the show at the request of a fundraiser. Though he apparently didn't enjoy the show, Cantor heroically stayed through the whole show for the conservative party.
An insider told the news trade, "If suffering through a Britney Spears concert will raise one more dime to help Republicans take back the House, then I'm glad Cantor's willing to do it."
WTF? I'm sure he "suffered" through her performance. Good grief.

It seems Robert Pattinson may have to step up his game against major Hollywood player Sean Penn, if he is to win over Natalie Portman.
The Milk star - who was also recently romantically linked to Lindsay Lohan - was supposedly seen locking lips with Natalie after a private dinner at the Sunset Tower Hotel's Tower Bar on March 17.
"They went to a bank of elevators that only goes to the spa or to private room," a source tells Star magazine.
"They came back about 45 minutes later, and that's when I saw them making out."
More on Pattinson...
Robert Pattinson has another famous fan - Scarlett Johansson's husband Ryan Reynolds.
Reynolds - who stars alongside Twilight's Kristen Stewart in the upcoming comedy flick Adventureland - says he's a huge fan of the 22-year-old Brit.
He says, "I love Twilight.
"Oh my God are you kidding me? Robert Pattinson in a word - dreamy."
Ryan also said that he wouldn't mind doing a film with Pattinson in the future.
Interesting.

Jamie Lynn Spears is putting off plans to marry boyfriend Casey Aldridge so she can focus on being a "hands on Southern mother", it's claimed.
The youngest Spears reportedly planned to marry her baby-daddy following the birth of their daughter Maddie in July 2008 - but after a change of heart, the wedding is off, says a U.S. publication.
A source close to the Spears clan tells OK! magazine, "The wedding's off. They are still in love, living together and very happy, but they have no plans to get married."

Rumor has it that Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are having trouble with their new domestic lifestyle. An insider told Page Six, "Ashlee and Pete are on the rocks. He is going out all the time and she's stuck at home. It's just not working."
A rep for Simpson, who's currently spending some alone time with her hubby in Australia without baby Bronx Mowgli, said, "This is not true. Everything is fine in their world."

The Gossip Girl spin-off, set to take off via a 20-minute flashback on the CW series' May 11 episode, hasn't even received an official pick-up, but executive producer Josh Schwartz already has a lot of ideas for it.
For instance, according to Schwartz, since the spin-off took place in the 80s when Serena's (Blake Lively) mom Lily (Kelly Rutherford) was in high school, it's very possible that she'll meet and even hang out with several characters from The O.C.
"What we know is ['OC' characters] Kirsten Cohen, or Kirsten Nichols as she was born, and Jimmy Cooper lived in Newport Beach in the '80s," he said. "So there's a total possibility that in one episode, Lily could have been friends with Kirsten or Jimmy Cooper when they were young. I would love to do that."

Lance Armstrong collided with two other bike riders on Monday.
He is now recovering in Austin, Texas, after a five-inch stainless-steel plate and 12 screws were inserted in his collarbone, Armstrong, 37, will be up and at 'em in a week, his doctor says.
"Our goal was to stabilize his fracture as quickly as possible, but in a safe fashion, and then allow Lance to do the things he does best," Dr. Douglas Elenz says.
As Armstrong's collarbone mends, his doctor will "advance him off the exercise bike on to the street and take it day-by-day, week-by-week and month-by-month … We're going to have to allow him to train and even potentially ride with a fracture that is not 100-percent healed."

Just one more reason to love the great Morgan Freeman: the actor donated $17,000 to his local high school in Charleston, Mississippi, so that the high school students could finally hold their first integrated prom.
The documentary, "Prom Night In Mississippi," is premiering this week at Sundance. Freeman, who was outraged ("It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard") that children in his town were still dealing with segregated dances, hopes that the prom, and the film, will break down the separate dance system and the mentality that fuels it. "The kids are not going to want to go backwards," Freeman says, "They've got their toe in the water, and the water's warm."

Sources confirm that ubiquitous real-life couple Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz just closed a deal to guest star on CSI: NY.
A show spokesperson declined to comment, but I'm told the Wentz' will not be playing themselves in the episode, which is slated to air on March 18.
Oy.

A sea of people serenaded the incoming first lady during a stop in Wilmington, Delaware, along the Obamas' train tour to Washington, D.C.
"It's Michelle's birthday today," Barack announced as he and his wife took the stage. The crowd responded with an impromptu chorus of the b-day tune. "Thank you so much, Wilmington," Barack smiled.
Michelle is 45 today.

Reports were swirling yesterday that none of the celeb weeklies were willing to offer enough money to get the pics of little Bronx Mowgli Wentz.
Well, Asslee Simpson's husband is denying that, claiming that they just don't wanna sell the baby pics.
Also, Travis McCoy told In Touch his friend and tour partner Pete Wentz asked him to be the godfather of his newborn son. Aww. =o)

Months after Demi Lovato arrived at Miley Cyrus' 16th birthday party at Disney last October, bloggers noticed slash marks across the 16 year old Disney star's wrists. Shortly after the wrist-cutting rumors hit the internet, Demi's rep issued a statement claiming her wrists were injured earlier in the day due to tight jelly bracelets.
I'm not going to say it isn't the bracelets, but I certainly hope if she has issues in harming herself that someone cares enough to help her get counseling. It would be very sad if this is all pushed under the rug and there really is a serious problem

Absent-minded as ever, Jessica Simpson tried to make beau Tony Romo a nice juicy cheeseburger for a pre-Thanksgiving treat. It didn't fare so well.
Jessica was hoping to impress boyfriend Tony Romo with a juicy cheeseburger but left the wrapper on the cheese, Star Magazine tells us.
"Jess blamed it on the manufacturer," a chatty spy chuckles. "She said they should really warn people!"

In case you wanted to know what Jessica Simpson has to say about her sister Ashlee and Ashlee's new husband Pete Wentz. We all knew she was pregnant and now that it has been confirmed, Jessica has spoken to the folks at People.com.
"She'll be amazing, absolutely amazing," Jessica Simpson, 27, told PEOPLE in Las Vegas Saturday at the grand opening of Palms Place.
"They're just the cutest couple in the world," she says. "They are adorable. Anybody would wish to be them and you can only wish them well. Just being around them inspires love and everything I sing about."
There you have it. If the music goes down depression lane we'll know why.

Ted Kennedy will undergo brain surgery this morning. The Senator himself has released the following statement:
"I am deeply grateful to the people of Massachusetts and to my friends, colleagues and so many others across the country and around the world who have expressed their support and good wishes as I tackle this new and unexpected health challenge. I am humbled by the outpouring and am strengthened by your prayers and kindness. Over the past several days, VICKI and I, along with my outstanding team of doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital, have consulted with experts from around the country and have decided that the best course of action for my brain tumor is targeted surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiation. This morning, I will be undergoing surgery with DR. ALLEN FRIEDMAN at Duke University Medical Center and expect to remain there to recuperate for approximately one week. Shortly thereafter, I will start radiation treatments at Massachusetts General Hospital and begin chemotherapy. After completing treatment, I look forward to returning to the United States Senate and to doing everything I can to help elect BARACK OBAMA as our next president."
Wow. I wonder what Barack will be saying in response to this fantastic endoresment.

Lindsay Lohan has apparently passed on an offer by OK! magazine to say she's gay. Insiders told Page Six that Lohan and OK! are in talks to do a cover where Lohan "comes out" about her relationship with gal pal Samantha Ronson, and the mag has offered her "around $1 million to do the cover." Now I have to think she's AGAIN just doing this for the money and the publicity.

Despite telling Ryan Seacrest that they planned to honeymoon in their basement, Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson headed off to Turks and Caicos for a quick post-wedding holiday.
The couple, who were married on Saturday at Simpson's parents home in Encino, CA, spent their first night as husband and wife in a safari tent on the property before leaving for their honeymoon.
Simpson, 23, wore an ivory lace wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier and jewels by William Noble as she and Wentz, 28, exchanged vows in front of 150 guests. Ashlee's Dad performed the ceremony. Jessica was maid of honor and Wentz's English bulldog was the ring bearer. hehe.
There is still no confirmation she is pregnant, but that is of course the rumor. Though she still looks thin to me, perhaps the quick wedding could mean the two wanted to wed before a baby bump appeared?

According to reports, the newly engaged Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are expecting their first child! The baby is due in October, and the parents-to-be are ecstatic with joy. Ashlee, 23 and Pete, 28, have been together just 18 months.
I had heard this earlier in the day but didn't believe it. Though it's not hard to believe since they are attached at the hip. But isn't he on a world tour?
Either way, I wonder if they'll get married earlier now?
