A friend of mine contacted me this morning to let me know there had been another attack in Newark near campus. She told me that one of her best friend's lives in West Knowles apartments on Elkton Road and was attacked in his home. He had gone to take trash out and when he returned to his apartment a young, black man was inside looking at his stereo equipment. When confronted, the perpetraitor pulled out a knife and attacked the resident. Fortunately, the attacker was only able to inflict a few skin deep cuts on the victim. The victim pushed the attacker to the ground and ran for the phone and at that point the attacked fled. This happened on Monday, October 3, 2005 and the Newark Police wrote up a statement, but nothing more has been heard. This assault has also not yet been officially publicly reported, from what I can tell.

Once again I am asking everyone to please speak out against the violence that is overwhelming the streets of Newark, Delaware in and around the University of Delaware campus.
