When I was a little girl, I remember getting super excited whenever I learned that David Copperfield planned to host a TV special. My mom, brother and I would watch them together. I think he ended up having eight different TV magic shows. They were always sooooo good! He is truly a master of illusion.
I miss magic shows! I miss those specials where an illusionist is doing incredible things on stage. I know other magicians out there do street magic. I get bored with card tricks and other parlor tricks with birds and long, colorful tissues. I want to be wowed by the illusion.
Recently, I was talking to my kids about magic shows. My oldest son brought up Penn & Teller, so I went looking to see if they are involved in any recent magic shows. Now that we don’t have cable I never really know what new shows are out there. I rely on streaming platforms. Though now there are so many streaming platforms that cable is probably cheaper. But I can’t give up Hulu and Netflix because we watch series on those platforms now, ya know? Anyway, I digress.

Penn & Teller on CW
PENN & TELLER FOOL US is a one-hour competition series celebrating magic and featuring the legendary duo Penn & Teller. On each episode of PENN & TELLER: FOOL US, aspiring magicians are invited to perform their best trick to try to fool them. Anyone who succeeds in fooling them wins the right to perform with Penn & Teller in their celebrated show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Amazing.
So the last episode that aired was on April 26, 2024. The magicians featured in that episode were Nikola Arkane, Rubi, Vinny Grosso and Gonzalo Mateos. The only one of them who I know anything about is Nikola. Nikola Arkane is a close-up magician and performer from Belfast, Northern Ireland. She has been a regular guest performer at venues like The Chicago Magic Lounge’s Virtual Cocktail hour, Monday Night Magic in New York, The Amsterdam Magic Show, and The Magic Castle’s virtual magic shows in Hollywood.
Even more amazing is that they will be launching their 11th season in 2025, and I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS SHOW! How is that possible? Stupid cable prices. According to an article on Deadline, Season 11 will likely launch in early 2025. I don’t know if Brooke Burke will be their host again.
So, I’ll keep my ears and eyes open for an update on when the 11th season will air. I’m glad The CW chose to keep it on air!
