On Friday, Walmart helped to push Disney’s latest animation into the spotlight.

Walmart is rolling out the “pink” carpet today for approximately 365 kids from Boys & Girls Clubs of America at a series of special viewing parties celebrating the national release of Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. Little girls will enjoy a fairytale evening that includes making a grand entrance on a pink carpet at the event and donning the latest Disney Princess looks from Walmart.

The Princess and the Frog is a classic and this version has a modern twist. The film features a girl named Tiana who dreams of owning her own restaurant, a frog prince who desperately wants to be human again, and a fateful kiss that leads them both on a hilarious adventure through the mystical bayous of Louisiana. The Princess and the Frog marks the return to hand-drawn animation from the revered team of John Musker and Ron Clements and features music by Oscar®-winning composer Randy Newman. Featuring the voice talents of Anika Noni Rose, Terrence Howard, John Goodman, Keith David, Jim Cummings, Jennifer Lewis and Oprah Winfrey.

Disney’s animated “The Princess and the Frog” hopped over feel-good football film “The Blind Side,” to take the top spot in North American box office sales in its first weekend in wide release.

The family-friendly Disney movie drew $25 million in ticket sales.

“This film has Oscar potential written all over it and should maintain solid grosses week after week,” Paul Dergarabedian, head of Hollywood.com’s box office tracking division, said in a statement.
