Ever had one of those serendipitous moments when the Spotify algorithm introduces you to a gem you didn’t know you were missing? You know I have because I wrote about that very thing like two days ago. That’s exactly how I stumbled upon Sunsleep, and let me tell you, it’s been a delightful revelation.

Who Are Sunsleep?

Formed on January 1st, 2017, Sunsleep is an American alternative band hailing from Dallas, Texas. The lineup features Devin Barrus on vocals, Miles Croney and Lance Nerio on guitars, Dylan Woods handling the bass, and Mason Croney on drums. Initially conceived as a studio project, the band’s chemistry and the positive reception to their debut single, “Fever,” propelled them to take their music to live audiences.

Musical Highlights

Sunsleep’s discography is a treasure trove for alternative rock enthusiasts. Tracks like “Dive,” “11 Minutes,” and “Fever” showcase their ability to blend intense guitar riffs with ambient pop melodies. However, it’s their song “Haze” that’s currently on a continuous loop for me.

The ‘Haze’ Obsession

There’s something profoundly captivating about “Haze.” The lyrics resonate deeply, capturing emotions that are both personal and universal. A snippet that particularly stands out:

You’re like a daydream, my love
Lost in a haze that we brought
I can’t complain, oh, it’s all intoxicating
No one can see where I’ve gone
Just wanna phase into the fog
I can’t replace what is lost when suffocating
In the haze

This track has such an impact that I couldn’t resist adding it to my Instagram notes today, because, why not share the feels?

Touring and What’s Next

As of now, Sunsleep doesn’t have any scheduled tour dates for 2025. Their last recorded performance was on August 28, 2024, at Soundwell in Salt Lake City, UT. Fans, new and old, are eagerly awaiting announcements for future shows, hoping to experience their dynamic performances live once more.
