In today‘s fast-paced and often stressful world, prioritizing our mental health and well-being is more important than ever. For me, this is something I must actively choose to do on a regular basis and hold myself accountable for including self-care in my daily routine.
Listening to podcasts, baking, boxing, reading – all of these things are important for my overall health.
With that in mind, let me quickly talk Supernatural. Because without Supernatural I wouldn’t know Coach Doc and without Coach Doc, this post would not exist.
Supernatural Addict
You may or may not know I am fully addicted to working out with Supernatural in my Meta Quest VR headset.
I mean, I’m 100% addicted. I’m currently on a 58-week streak, which means I’ve met my goal of working out 5 days a week, every week, for 58 weeks. (I’d say all but maybe three weeks; I actually got into the headset 7 days each week.)
If you ever want to try Supernatural, please comment or email me because I can give you a guest pass allowing you to try it for free for 30 days. Seriously, reach out and I’ll happily send you a pass 🙂
But this post isn’t about my healthy physical habits; it’s about a podcast that helps with my mental well-being. It just so happens that one of the Supernatural Coaches is part of this because I listen to his podcast, “Doc’s Daily Dose.”
Doc’s Daily Dose
So, Coach Doc is a Supernatural coach with whom I work out and meditate in the headset. He also has an extremely enlightening website, podcast and social media presence.
Coach Doc talks about being a warrior, setting boundaries, embracing imperfections, and so much more.
Plus, he has a dreamy voice, so come on now; it is perfect for listening in the car or while at work, which I do.
One of his most recent podcasts was about the idea of simplicity. He brought up some dialogue from a movie called “Bleed For This.” It’s a movie about boxing, you all know how I love boxing. So I was intrigued.
- Vinny Pazienza: Yeah, well, the boxing world looks shiny from the outside. It’s filled with promises that… Most of them turn out to be lies. You can’t rely on anyone.
- Female Reporter: So what would you say the biggest deception was? What was the biggest lie you were told?
- Vinny Pazienza: [pause] It’s not that simple.
- Female Reporter: Why not?
- Vinny Pazienza: No, that’s the biggest lie I was ever told: “It’s not that simple.” And it’s a lie they tell you over and over again.
- Female Reporter: [pause] What’s not simple?
- Vinny Pazienza: Any of it. All of it. It’s how they get you to give up. They say, “It’s not that simple, Vinny.”
- Female Reporter: [pause] So, what’s the truth?
- Vinny Pazienza: [pause] That it is. That if you just do the thing that they tell you, you can’t, then it’s done. And you realize it is that simple… And that it always was.
Family History
Besides the podcasts about self-care, there are also “Like Father, Like Son” episodes. Coach Doc explains that he has a very limited family history because his father grew up in the deep south.
There isn’t much documentation. So they recorded podcasts of his dad talking about his past. It’s a way of documenting history moving forward for Coach Doc and his family.
I highly recommend checking out his podcast.
