As the current chair and a founding member of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) DEI committee, I have the privilege of writing posts for our CANR DEI Microsite.

In summary, the post discusses the common expression “We’re all in the same boat,” often used to convey unity during difficult situations. However, it emphasizes the importance of recognizing that individuals have unique circumstances and experiences, resulting in significantly diverse “boats.” While we may be facing similar challenges, the conditions, resources, and obstacles we encounter can vary based on factors such as background, socio-economic status, education, and personal circumstances.
